Save Deebing Creek

Screenshot_20230703_210354.jpgThis has been a very long journey that we have all played a part in one way or another. You might think it's all over and that the land at Deebing Creek has been lost. Yes it does look that way but the fight is not over yet. It is still very current and will be in court again on Monday 10th July.

Aunty Jill Davidson/Thompson has worked tirelessly for years on this campaign to save the former Deebing Creek Mission site. This site is home to many unmarked graves. Home to family members of the Yuggera/Ugarapul people. Home to aboriginal culture and traditions. Home to the endangered Melaleuca Irbyana trees which date back 200 years. This is also a Koala corridor which must be protected at all costs.

Aunty Jill's family and other families go right back to King Billy Turner. King Billy Turner was a clever man of his tribe and everyone respected him. This site was occupied by the Aboriginal people well before colonial  settlement.  Together they will protect the environment and the mission sites.  They will not be swayed by greedy developers or their money.

The many local Clans were NOT  consulted prior to the sale of the land nor were they consulted regarding the pending housing development being approved.  They did not give their permission for this sacred site to be sold by The Yuggera/Ugarapul Native Title Applicants. The Yuggera/Ugarapul Native Title Applicants did NOT represent all the Clans from Deebing Creek and are making unauthorised decisions.

We are calling on the community to help one final time.

Please,  if you do not agree with the sale of all of the Deebing Creek sites or the potential development, sign this petition so Aunty Jill and the  Yuggera/Ugarapul Elders can show the court how many of us are hurt, upset and devastated about the destruction of these sites. We must stop AV Jennings, Moremac and Stockland.

WE MUST STOP THE DECRECATORS NOW!

Please, let's all join together one last time to "Save Deebing Creek"
