Verzoek aan gemeente Maastricht om de inzameling van afval te verbeteren / Request to the municipality of Maastricht to improve the waste collection

Beste gemeente Maastricht,
Wij zijn een groep studenten die graag verandering ziet in de manier waarop afval wordt opgehaald in Maastricht. Maastricht is qua afvalstoffenheffing de duurste gemeente van Limburg volgens Rijkswaterstaat maar daar zien wij weinig van terug. Neem bijvoorbeeld plastic, metaal en drankenkartons (PMD), dat kan in de daarvoor bestemde PMD-zakken alleen worden ingeleverd bij een milieupark. Aangezien weinig studenten over een auto beschikken en het onbegonnen werk is om het PMD van 10 huisgenoten blikje voor blikje in te leveren is het resultaat dat PMD vaak niet wordt gescheiden, maar gewoon bij het restafval beland. In onze ogen is dat echt niet meer van deze tijd. Vandaar willen wij dat er voortaan, net als in de meeste gemeentes, PMD wordt opgehaald of het mogelijk wordt de zakken volledig in de daarvoor bedoelde afvalpunten te stoppen.

We are a group of students who would like to see a change in the way waste is collected in Maastricht. Maastricht is the most expensive municipality in Limburg in terms of waste disposal charges according to the Department of Public Works, but we see very little of that. Take, for example, plastic packaging, metal packaging and drinking cartons (PMD), which can only be handed in in PMD-bags at an environmental park. Since few students have a car at their disposal and it is an unattainable task to hand in 10 roommates' PMD can-by-can, the result is that PMD is often not separated but simply ends up in the residual waste. In our opinion, this can no longer continue this way, which is why we want PMD to be collected separately from now on, just like in most municipalities. Alternatively, it should be possible to put the bags in the designated waste points completely
