Allow Body Art in Tremonton, Utah
The recent Tattoo Spa in Tremonton, My Style, has been open since June 2015. During this time, over 400 tattoos have been done with only one incident occurring in the establishment involving a minor (right before the minor turned 18, there was failure to check proper identification and not documented, apologies to the public and family have been made). The parents of the minor did NOT press charges, but Tremonton City ordered the owner, Cassidy Snell, to appear in court; where she was charged for the incident and was court ordered to provide 6 months of health inspections to prove the improvement of the shop... but, UNFORTUNATELY, this is not the only punishment that Tremonton City decided to bestow upon My Style.
Shortly after the court appearance, another letter was given to the owner. It was a letter for the upcoming city council meeting where they were going to "review the current business license for denial". Cassidy Snell spent two months prior and alot of money convincing the City Council and Planning/Zoning Committee how My Style would be an asset to the community, where they gave a unanimous vote to allow the Body Art facility into the community.
Hours before the City Council meeting on Sep 1, 2015, Cassidy was admitted into Emergency room and unable to attend the meeting. It was asked that the meeting be postponed until she could be there, but it was denied. Without Cassidy there to speak to the council, the business license was revoked and Tattoos once again were not allowed. We feel that this "double consequence" was an injustice decision made towards My Style, and they should be allowed to continue their very successful business in Tremonton City.
"Tattoos are an expression of one's self... It falls under the First Ammendment; Freedom Of Speech." By removing Body Art from the establishment it is Damaging the new business from making the money it needs to stay open and succeed, as well as taking away everyone's freedom of self expression and the right to pursue happiness and posperity with earning money.
If you feel like My Style is an asset to the community and should be allowed to pursue Body Art within the Establishment, PLEASE (on your own free will) sign this petition.
