The traffic at this intersection causes people who normally follow the rules of the road to break them. And that's dangerous for pedestrians.

Have you ever continued driving through the intersection just after the light turned red, because you've already waited through 3 complete traffic signal cycles and don't want to wait any longer?

Have you ever been stuck behind a line of cars who can't turn because there are people in the crosswalk, and you want to go straight, and there's no oncoming traffic, so you use the wrong side of the street to go around them?

Yes, I don't usually run red lights or drive on the wrong side of the street, but I've done both because otherwise I'm going to sit there for what seems like forever!

So these traffic situations result in chaos and people not following the rules of the road. And that's dangerous when you add to the mix kids who are walking in the street!

It's time to do something about this intersection, and the City and the MVWSD school district both saying "WE can't do anything, go ask THEM" is not acceptable. We shouldn't have to wait for another pedestrian to get hit by a car for this to become a priority.
