Great memories!

(High Point, 2020-07-27)

#202

I went to this school through elementary school. I had an aunt who taught here until she retired. This school holds a lot of fond memories for me. When I visit my family who still live in Rustburg I drive by here and a lot of great memories come up.

(Jarratt , VA, 2020-07-27)

I am a proud alumni of Rustburg High School and would love to see the building preserved NOT torn down!

(Barboursville, 2020-07-27)

#207

I'm signing because I graduate 8th grade there in 93. I was born and raised in Rustburg. I hate to see the original building go forever.

(ROANOKE, 2020-07-27)

#209

This school is a historic site/monument! Generations of my family went here and the school has years of character!! If its not broke, don’t fix it!!! Use that money for other things to improve the school system like books better technology, etc.....

(Rustburg, 2020-07-27)

#214

This and the old Courthouse are foundational historical buildings in Rustburg. I started and finished my education there. It is a beautiful building and icon for our town.

(Rustburg, 2020-07-27)

#216

My grandmother went to school here and my son will soon go there and it's a part of history.

(EVINGTON, 2020-07-28)

#217

I’m signing this because I’m a graduate of Rustburg high school and I would love for my son to go to the same school I went to and the one his grandfather graduated from in 1977. The former Rustburg high school, current middle school is a staple for the community and needs to stay! I love Rustburg and would have to see this school demolished. Please do a complete remodel on the current school instead of replacing it! I pay Campbell county taxes and send my children to Campbell county schools and this is what I want to happen!

(Rustburg, 2020-07-28)

#221

This is where I spent 4 years if my childhood and where my children now get their education.

(Rustburg, 2020-07-28)

#225

History and preservation are important and should be in the Commonwealth! My ancestors donated land for the Campbell County Courthouse in Rustburg, VA. I believe those that oversee schools should also oversee history. Save this landmark!

4 generations of my family has passed thru those doors

I do NOT want to see the old Rustburg High building torn down. To be able to still be standing after so many years it was built better than any building that can be constructed today.

(Lynchburg, 2020-07-28)

#234

I am signing this because both my mother and my grandmother went to this school and then both of them worked in the cafeteria. I went to this school as well as the rest of my family. This building is the place where I was asked to dance for the 1st time. Little memories that add up to big things over the course of a lifetime.

(Lynchburg, 2020-07-28)

#236

I went to this middle school and I want my 1 year old to go where his daddy went to school at

(New Market, 2020-07-28)

#250

Because I believe there is value in preserving history and if there is a way to save the money by doing so then we as tax payers should be able to pay our taxes knowing that those responsible in using those dollars do so wisely and to benefit of those in the community.

I went to school there and is kinda of a monument here is Rustburg.

(RUSTBURG, 2020-07-28)

#256

I went to Rustburg High School when it was in what is now Rustburg Middle School. Historic buildings should be saved, not destroyed.

(Ajijic, 2020-07-28)

#260

I reside in Rustburg & maintain several old properties & there's only one chance to get this right. I understand that there's nothing wrong with the building. It cannot be put back. We have to keep some landmarks or the town is just another town. People are attracted by landmarks such as this so if it is demolished Rustburg has no attraction & never will.

(Rustburg, 2020-07-29)

#261

I went there in Elementary School and after one year at the Intermediate School, I returned for grades 9-12

(Lynchburg , VA 24501, 2020-07-29)

#262

I went to Rustburg Middle school from 2005-2008

(Rustburg, 2020-07-29)

#263

I'm signing because this was my school, my parents, aunts, uncles, siblings, cousins. The front building is aesthetically pleasing and about as important as the courthouse and its history.

(Lynchburg, 2020-07-29)

#264

There's definitely a need for a new middle school and car rider pick up improvement BUT I don't see the need to totally destroy the existing school! Look at how they built onto Concord Elementary and it was old but it turned out great!

(Lynchburg, 2020-07-29)

#267

Preserve, protect and incorporate the 1919 Rustburg School Building into the design of the 21st Century school complex improvements. My Mother, Esther Mae Wooldridge (Maiden Name), my Sister, younger Brother and I also attended this School. This structure holds a lot of importance to our family and the community. Respectfully, Bruce Lee Blankenship, Class of 1966.//

(Montclair, 2020-07-29)

#268

I went there in the 1st & 2nd grade & it's a great part of history for Campbell County!

(Concord, 2020-07-29)

I'm signing this to save our old school.

(Indianapolis, In, 2020-07-29)

#273

I am a member of the last graduating class (1979) of the old highschool.
It would be such a shame to see this beautiful historic building torn down just because of the short sightedness of the school district. Once it's gone, it's gone forever. Please preserve this historic building which has for many years, and will continue to serve the community .

(Tacoma, 2020-07-29)

#276

My School for 9 Years

(Appomattox Virginia, 2020-07-29)

#277

While there is a lot of sentiment attached to the building, my understanding is that grant money & tax credits for historical preservation would save the county a considerable amount of money. Saving tax payer dollars should be a primary consideration.

(Lynchburg, 2020-07-29)

#278

I was raised in Rustburg. So much has changed that I would love to see this building saved. This building holds so many wonderful memories for so many people.
Please consider saving this building.

(Concord, 2020-07-29)

#279

This was my Dad's High School and it was my middle school. Preserve this historical building like you would a court house. There is a legacy for so many. I also had numerous other family graduate from this school or attend this facility as Rustburg Middle School. Every time that I return to my home state, I set in front of this school and cry as I recall the overwhelming wonderful memories.

(Brentwood, 2020-07-29)

I believe we should make every effort to preserve the historic value of this building to the community.

(Fincastle, 2020-07-29)

(Long Island, 2020-07-29)

#287

Although I attended and graduated RHS in 1963 in the building beside this building, I feel we should preserve this old 1919 RHS building as part of RHS history.

(GREENSBORO, 2020-07-29)

#292

Preservation of an iconic local building is essential to preserving the character and identity of the community. It is a greener alternative to demolition. Leaders do the right thing and mangers do things right. Preservation of this building is the right thing. Be leaders not managers.

(Virginia Beach, 2020-07-29)

#293

I graduated from RHS in 1959& my Father graduated from RHS. He was (Born July 27,1906) died Sept 1999, & he would have been 114 this July! That’s History that should be preserved!

(Rustburg, 2020-07-30)

#295

I grew up near there. No one wants it torn down

(Lynchburg, 2020-07-30)

#300

This was my children's school. It's a historic building that deserves to be saved and renovated.

#303

As an alumni of RHS(69) I agree with all three(3) parts of this petition and sincerely ask that you give this serious consideration.

(Arcadia, 2020-07-30)

#304

I attended school here in 7th grade. It is old and should be preserved as an historical landmark. What would the world do if people decided all old buildings need to come down? We wouldn’t have the Louvre in Paris or Westminster Abbey in London or the Pantheon in Rome. Rustburg, VA does not have but the court house and Finch’s Tavern. Can’t we keep something of the past? Must it all be destroyed?

(Orlando, Florida, 2020-07-30)

#308

It is such a waste and travesty to demolish these older buildings. When I remember my school days I remember this building. It was the beginning of a young life and not moving a lot anymore. The structure and quality of workmanship will never be duplicated in any new building they could replace it with. Please do not demolish this beautiful building. It is a part of so many lives that still reside and live in the area and it is important to those of us who have left. There are many other possible uses for this building to be of service to the residents of the county.

(SPRING HILL, 2020-07-30)

#310

I'm signing in because a lot of memories goes with the old school and wouldn't want the building destroyed.

(appomattox, 2020-07-30)

#311

(Madison Heights, 2020-07-30)

#312

A building with such rich history should be preserved and restored.

(Lynchburg, 2020-07-30)

#313

I'm interested in historical and community preservation

(Richmond, 2020-07-30)

#315

Im signing because the plans would put many families in a tight spot to transport their child to school. Also the historical significance of othe current buildings. Our county has changed far too fast and far too much loosing the friendly neighborly atmosphere we grew up with! Leave buildings and trees we depend on .

(Evington, 2020-07-30)

#316

This is history. We keep forgetting history for new things. It has lasted this long it must have been built well

(Rustburg, 2020-07-31)

#327

Rustburg is lacking in historical buildings. This building can be repurposed and will last longer than most new buildings. Cultural and architectural history is important and helps economic development

(Lynchburg, 2020-07-31)

#331

I am signing because saving the building is the fiscally responsible choice.

(Concord, 2020-07-31)

#332

Reconsider the definition of progress.

(Pahoa, 2020-07-31)

#334

It is an important part of the Rustburg community and it is irresponsible not to save 35-40% of the construction costs. Those taxpayers dollars saved could be better used for other educational needs.

(Summerville, SC, 2020-08-01)

We Need to Save and Preserve our History as much as possible!!!

(Rustburg, 2020-08-04)

My parents, my children and I attended there, but the main reason I would like to have it preserved is the fact that it is one of the few remaining historical buildings in Rustburg.

(Rustburg, 2020-08-04)
