I'm signing because I am a unemployed Pharmacist Assistant. City of Cape Town and Western Cape Department of Health should create more jobs for Assistants for we are a valuable asset in the pharmacy.

There are too many young pharmacists who have had less than 5 years of practice and are excepting very low pay rates .This is a big issue since the pharmacies are lowering the pay rates to locum Pharmacist. Some times the pharmacist and pharmacy assistant are being paid the same rates. I have a Doctor of pharmacy and over 25 years of experience and they want me to accept very low rates to locum .

I am a qualified pharmacy professional who is struggling to find stable employment despite having the necessary training and experience. Many of us are passionate about serving communities and strengthening the healthcare system, but limited opportunities and poor workforce planning have left skilled professionals unemployed. Signing this petition is my way of calling for urgent attention to job creation, fair placement, and better utilization of pharmacy assistants and pharmacists in both public and private sectors.

I am expressing my interest in contributing to the healthcare sector due to my current unemployment status, despite possessing the requisite qualifications for my profession. I perceive a significant demand for skilled professionals like myself within hospitals and clinics, where existing staff appear to be overburdened owing to staffing shortages. It is my view that the government should actively pursue the recruitment of qualified individuals such as myself, thereby addressing critical gaps in healthcare personnel and ceasing to proffer excuses for inaction in this regard.

We the undersigned, call for urgent attention to the challenges faced by Pharmacist Assistants. Despite our essential role in healthcare, many of us are unemployed due to limited opportunities, while those who are employed are often underpaid. This situation not only undermines our profession but also affects the quality of healthcare delivery. We request fair recognition, better employment opportunities, and salaries that reflect our skills, training, and contributions to the health system.
