I am an undergraduate LLB student, who's from a poor background. I am stressed about my future and where I will get the R22000, I fully support that PVT be added at University level

I can relate with people that do not have the finances to pay many thousands for PVT as I come from a disadvantaged family. I hope change comes with every individual who signs this petition.

Queen Sehlapelo (Polokwane, 2026-03-15)

It directly affects me, I feel that having to pay for PVT/PLT after graduating is systematically exclusionary and discriminatory toward the black and poor.

I'm signing this because I strongly support it as I'm one of the LLB students who come from a disadvantage family.

The law school costs are too excessive especially for us LLB graduates from impoverished backgrounds which makes it difficult for us to get into practice as law firms nowadays makes it a requirement to have attended law school which tend to nit take into consideration the fact that some of us cannot afford to pay the amounts required to attend law school

Bongiwe Ndwandwe (Johannesburg, 2026-03-15)

#625

I'm signing this petition because I am one of those graduates who can not afford to pay law school fees .I am my second year unemployed and hoping to save money to go to school but I haven't started because jobs are a scarcity too.

#653

Because not all students have money to pay for practicals

Palesa Madisa (Tshwane, 2026-03-15)

#656

It's unjust to expect LLB graduates to have 22K to pay for law school, especially after they have been funded by NSFAS. NSFAS funded students are obviously from disadvantaged backgrounds, where are they gonna get 22K after obtaining the LLB degree?

I submit also that alternatively let Nsfas cover law school costs for all LLB NSFAS funded graduates.

it oppresses the majority, it discriminates to the medium and lower class and prejudices one from timeous growth in their career. The economy is already in a terrible state as is, affecting affordability. Parents won’t be in positions to fund the pvt, groceries and rentals for their adult children any longer. It is therefore just to remedy this by having pvt fall under the LLB curriculum morseso as the board exams also are quite a daunting process on their own.

Sthembile Xulu (Durban, 2026-03-15)

#684

I am signing this petition because, as a 4th year LLB student at Regenesys, I am deeply concerned about the financial barriers that many law graduates face after completing their degree. Many of us come from disadvantaged backgrounds and already struggle to afford tuition and living costs. Being required to pay around R22,000 for Practical Legal Training after graduation, while often unemployed, makes it even harder to enter the legal profession. Practical training should form part of the LLB curriculum in our final year so that students graduate ready for admission without additional financial burdens. Integrating PVT into the degree would create a fairer system and give more young South Africans a real chance to pursue their future in the legal profession.

Dimpho Rammabi (Sandton, 2026-03-15)

#689

This matter also concerns me. We shouldn't be expected to pay extra for practicals that were supposed to have been part of the LLB carriculum. A lot of LLB graduates find themselves stuck and unable to further their careers; myself included, because of PVT enrollment fees and articles. It's a barrier that's holding us back. It has to change.

I am an LLB degree holder, my journey was hindered by the fact that I had to pay R20 000 for law school.
I believe pvt should be part of Curriculum training, as this will allow graduates from disadvantaged background gain admission easily.

#713

I am signing because i want PVT/PLT to be part of LLB curriculum for final year students

NEBULU MULALO (Polokwane, 2026-03-15)

#715

It because a disadvantage for South Africa graduates after finishing law school having to pay law school while coming from disadvantage families. That is because lead to unemployment of graduates who are unable to pay or afford the higher amount to pay to law school and still having to write board exams especially when they are not funded. The reduction or Practical legal training into LLB curriculum will help and encourage students to finish their degree in time, having hoped and enthusiastic that they are going to be employed after graduation and those who does not have funding or unable to maintain or pay for practical legal training will have hope

Sihle Mbili (East London, 2026-03-15)

I'm an llb graduate struggling to get into a law firm to do PLT even though I have excellent results. I also don't have the finances to pay for PVT as it is really costly and time consuming thus I feel to save time and increase our chances of employment it should be integrated into the llb curriculum.

#763

I'm studying LLB but I can't afford to go to law school

Ndiitwani Ramadzhanzha (Polokwane, 2026-03-15)

#768

As an LLB graduate who is currently unemployed, I support the inclusion of PLT/PVT training within the LLB curriculum. Many graduates already face significant challenges securing articles or entry-level positions in the legal field. Requiring additional training that costs around R20,000 places a further financial burden on graduates who are often already struggling to find employment. Integrating this training into the university curriculum would make the legal profession more accessible and fair for graduates who have already invested years into completing their LLB degree.

I'm signing because I am one of those graduates who cannot afford to pay Practical Vocational Training as I have no one who can help me with funds, my guardian is a pensioner and cannot afford the fees.

Xolile Lekhuleni (Hazyview, 2026-03-15)

#788

As a second-year LLB student, I am signing this petition because the current requirement to complete and pay for the Practical Vocational Training (PVT) course after graduating places an unfair financial burden on law graduates. Many students already struggle to fund their LLB studies, and requiring an additional costly course before entering the profession creates a serious barrier, especially for those from disadvantaged backgrounds. Integrating the 6-month PVT into the LLB curriculum would make the transition from university to legal practice more accessible and fair for all graduates. I therefore urge the Legal Practice Council, the Law Society of South Africa, and Legal Education and Development to seriously consider this proposal and take steps to reform the current system so that financial barriers do not prevent capable graduates from entering the legal profession. It may not affect me today, but tomorrow it will affect me and many other future law graduates. Change is needed now.

Cliff Tshuxeko Mhlongo (Thohoyandou, 2026-03-15)

#792

I believe in this initiative because I am a law student as well with very strong views on the motion of this petition

Onele Mabentsela (Mthatha, 2026-03-15)

There needs to be more practical exposure for the LLB curriculum. This professions demands are too high for us to be thrown out into the world with little experience and a whole lot of theory, also expected to cough up more funds to pay for law school.
