AI surveillance poses a serious threat to the privacy and current freedoms of Australians. Our laws and legal system was not built to handle the presence and consequences of AI in our world and until appropriate measures are discovered, public AI surveillance as well as AI citize analysis should be outlawed. Lets not be the ones to demonstrate to the world what happens to a country with unregulated AI.Timothy Kerridge (Melbourne, 2025-09-13)

They might say it is to protect us from fraud and other eventualities however in reality it is to herd us and control what we do, what we spend and on what. We were created with unlimited potential to live extraordinary or ordinary lives as we wished. That is the power of choice ultimately given to every human. They choose to try and control us, to keep us small and limited, I choose to say no!!!Sheree Mulreany (Darwin, 2025-10-02)

I have particular concerns about who will have the use of this surveillance. Some may have positive motivations but history tells us that the majority will not and this will give them great power over the population. Australia is a democratic country. The government is elected to represent its people. We don't want to become authoritarian, where oppressive laws are dictated from top down - as in Russia and China. I will not stand for communism and oppression in our country. We are supposed to be a nation of opportunity and freedoms. So I will gladly sign this petition to stop this monstrosity affecting our lives. Australians deserve better. We work bloody hard for what we earn and have in our lives, we will NOT tolerate any form of digital ID and AI technology in our Country. If I have to I will get rid of the technology that I have all together to fight this. We have lived without technology and internet before, we can do it again if it means fighting for our rights and freedoms. ENOUGH OF THIS WOKE SHIT. Australians are hurting enough as it is now without all of this on top.Daniel Hill (Cooltong, 2025-11-05)

I’m signing because I believe in a free Australia - one where every person has the right to live without being watched, tracked, profiled, or coerced by technology or government policy disguised as “safety.”I strongly object to every form of AI surveillance, digital tracking, and government overreach that threatens basic human rights and freedoms. No government or corporation should have the power to monitor people’s movements, communications, online activity, purchases, or relationships. These systems are sold as protection when they can, and I believe will ultimately be used for control.
The quiet rollout of Digital ID, the erosion of online privacy, and new proposals like the so-called “under 16 ban” are all steps towards the same destination - a future where every Australian’s identity, movement, and communication can be traced, stored, and potentially used against them. These policies are being sold as safety measures, but in reality, they pave the way for a centralised surveillance network.
We risk creating the foundations for a Chinese Communist–style social credit system - one where citizens are scored, judged, rewarded or punished based on their behaviour, opinions, or associations. Such a system would give government and corporate powers the ability to control who can access services, travel, bank, or even speak freely. That is not freedom; that is digital authoritarianism.
History has shown us what happens when surveillance becomes normal: truth is censored, dissent is punished, and freedom slowly disappears behind layers of justification and spin.
I believe, AI surveillance and Digital ID are potentially the most dangerous and invasive tools ever created. They don’t just have the ability to watch - they can predict, judge, and manipulate. They can turn every citizen into a data point to be analysed, controlled, and exploited. Not only that, but they could be used to treat people like prisoners under constant digital observation.
Freedom of speech, movement, association and privacy - both offline and online - should not be negotiable. They are the foundations of a healthy democracy.
Steve Lamb (Sydney, 2025-11-11)
