Cancel the hairpiece/fibre ban in RESOSA

I'm signing this because of the following reasonsI think this is that Unfair blame Banning hairpieces unfairly blames the accessory rather than the machine or in this case the person responsible for the incident.l think It's essential to address the root cause of the accident rather than restricting students' freedom of expression.
It also adds a restriction of self-identity: Hairpieces are a form of self-expression and a way for students to showcase their personality. So l say by banning them, the school is restricting students' ability to express themselves and potentially damaging their self-esteem.
This is also
Overly broad solution: Banning all hairpieces is an overly broad solution to a specific incident. Instead, the school could implement more targeted measures, such as educating students on how to safely wear hairpieces or providing guidelines for machine use .
There's also a
Lack of evidence there is no evidence to suggest that hairpieces are inherently dangerous or that they pose a significant risk to students. The school should rely on data and evidence-based decision-making rather than reacting to a single incident.
Infringement on personal freedoms banning hairpieces infringes on students' personal freedoms and autonomy. Students should be able to make choices about their own appearance and expression, as long as they are not harming others.
Potential negative impact on marginalized students For some students, hairpieces may be an essential part of their cultural or religious identity. Banning hairpieces could disproportionately affect these students and create a hostile or unwelcoming environment.
I think our school should honestly rethink of this .

I disagree with the decision the school have taken that we're not allowed to plait with hairpiece/fibre next term for that one careless person who doesn't follow the workshop rules.Sibongokuhle Hadebe (Kempton Park, 2025-03-27)

To the School Administration,We, the students, parents, and community, strongly disagree with the decision to ban fiber braids in school. This decision seems unfair and discriminatory, as it penalizes the entire student body for an incident involving one individual. Singling out fiber braids as a result of one isolated incident is unjust and excessive.
We believe that banning fiber braids is an unfair restriction on our personal expression and cultural identity. We urge you to reconsider this decision and find alternative solutions that address any concerns without targeting a specific hairstyle.

I believe it is unfair to punish the entire school for one individuals mistake. The incident was caused by LACK OF ATTENTION,not by the presence of hairpieces. Instead of banning them completely,Rhodes should focus on enforcing proper safety measures such as learners wearing bonnets in the workshops . This decision is an overreaction without addressing the real issue!!!Lebogang Chokoe (G, 2025-03-27)

I'm signing this petition because braiding our hair as girls at school promotes neatness , there's low maintenance needed and it lasts longer compared to freehand using our natural hair, conrows last only for 2 weeks maximum meaning every two weeks I have to pay R250 to do my hair , natural hair is difficult to maintainI believe it's inconsiderate for the school to ban fiber because of an irresponsible technical student who failed to follow the workshop saftey regulations which every student is taught of from day one into the workshop

I'm signing this because I feel that it is unfair that our black fine shyt has to suffer under these hair restrictions that were implemented in that school, banning hairpiece is a terrible idea as hairpiece helps reduce the hassle of maintaining natural hair and it makes appearance neater. Not every learner has time in the morning to style their hair and IF it is to happen that a learner comes to school with "unstyled" or messy hair the would WILL most definitely make it a problemDon't ban hairpiece ,its a terrible idea.

Banning hair extensions in school is an unnecessary restriction that limits students' ability to express themselves and feel confident. Hair extensions are a personal choice that can help students manage their hair, enhance their appearance, and even protect their natural hair from damage. For many, especially those with textured or curly hair, extensions are a practical and culturally significant way to maintain their hair. Enforcing such a ban disproportionately affects certain groups of students and could be seen as unfair or discriminatory. Instead of restricting hairstyles, schools should focus on policies that promote inclusivity, self-expression, and respect for diversity.Amara ego (Kempton Park, 2025-03-27)

It is unfair that we suffer because of an irresponsible individual who refused to abide by the rules in the workshop, it is stated in the first chapter in all the tech textbooks that long hair should be in a bun and that you should not play around in the workshop. We have been operating on the machines for the longest time and we all follow the rules in the workshop and it is unfair that we get punished for her wrongful doings.Simangaliso Maseko (Kempton Park, 2025-03-27)

lam signing this petition because I a hundred percentage agree with the author of this petition. As a black child my hair is my crown and my confidence. Allow the kids to braid and style their hair in ways that that they've always done .Such drastic change does not bring any good outcome instead chaos, imagine how many of those girls will not be as confident to come to school because their hair is not well done . Allow braiding with fibre in schools!!! It doesn't affect their education!!!

As a parent to maintain natural hair is expensive for us every week kids should go to the fix their hair and it's R150 cost for normal style with natural hair and monthly it'll be times 4 means R600 per kid the more you've kid the more you'll expend and for how much are we earning as a salary? But with that synthetic braid we expended R500 for the whole term the weekly cost is around R30 the annually cost is R2000 per kids which is the best thing for us parents. We are tired of being punished for our pants, our hair, and the way we present ourselves. The makeup we are accused of wearing is often not even makeup. We are tired of being told to tie our hair up, tired of being told our pants are too tight.Yet, our voices are ignored. The teachers enforce rules that do not reflect our choices or our comfort. We believe they are wrong. It is time to take a stand. We are exhausted by the control imposed by Bushman and Caroline, dictating every detail of our appearance.
We deserve the freedom to express ourselves without being policed daily. This issue cannot continue—we must fight for change.✊🏻✊🏻

Natural hair is very hard to maintain and others don't have products to do their hair so hairpiece is better because you can do any hairstyle, you don't need hair products.I believe that we us girls/women shouldn't suffer for one's mistake .At school we can tie a bun.

The same thing could have happened had it been someone’s natural hair had it been that long. The regulations are in place to avoid such in the first place. It is unconstitutional to ban certain hairstyles that can adhere to the regulations. Black hair has gone through so much, why is this still happening? Remove that ban!Zama Kunene (Johannesburg, 2025-03-31)

I believe that The learner who's hair got captured in the workshop machine should be the only one banned from doing braidsRhodesfield learners cannot suffer for ones actions
So either she's banned or expelled
But we should be kindly allowed to plate braids and not freehand as it takes up time and ends up looking VERY uneat
