Give back the 2020 graduates fundraised money

As a parent of a graduate from the class of 2020 I believe that the students should be able to have what they worked so hard to fundraise. It was their friends and family who bought vegetables, bought tickets, and donated gift cards to a tree for their ticket sale.

I believe all 2020 grads deserve a proper graduation

(Glenwood, 2021-02-09)

I’m signing because I believe us 2020 graduates deserve more then what we are getting, I understand the policy for fundraised money intensely, but our community along with friends and family helped fundraised this money to go towards THE CLASS OF 2020 not to any other organization or charity. In all do respect the least they can do is give us some of that fundraised money to have a grad cap in memory of this special milestone in our lives. some of us don’t even have that.....

My son and his school mates are a 2020 class who are denied their funds because they didn’t get a grad. Not fair!!

My son is a graduate of 2020
They all deserve their funds raised divided equally among them!

(Ming’s bight, 2021-02-09)

I totally agree with giving the grads back their money. This situation was totally out of the grads control, they couldn't have a Grad that they worked so hard for so at least give them their money back!!

(Appleton, 2021-02-09)

#55

I’m signing this because I support the grad 2020 classes

(Western Bay, 2021-02-09)

#86

I’m signing because I feel that because the graduates did not have a graduation celebration therefore they didn’t spend the funds. The money should go back to the graduates considering they were the ones who gave and fundraised. The fund’s really don’t belong to anyone else!

(Coachman's Cove, 2021-02-09)

#89

I believe that each one of those Graduates deserve to get back everything that they worked so hard to raise. It belongs to no one else but them.

It is 100% wrong to hold money that students, (not the teachers, school, and school board) raised for their last year celebration which was taken away from them. If you helped with the fundraising, I could see you having a say. It’s only common sense when you think about it. Some of these students could at least put their share of the funds towards their post secondary education. Is involving the RCMP an option, is there proof the money is still there? A lot of funds that were raised have probably already been spent. School board got to get with it and show they have some integrity

(Brents cove, 2021-02-09)

Because this is my graduating class we are the one who went door to door asking and delivering and making events it’s our family and friends that gave US the money NOT the school they where donating to a event for US and everyone that I seen that supported us thinks it should be given to us why should they get it? No one gave us the money thinking it was going in there hands and honestly at this point I just really frustrated with the bored they give money to students all the time in a form of rewards like the art reward well this is our reward of making it through all of school from OUR Community

(Gander, 2021-02-09)

#104

i’m signing this petition because i think that the 2020 graduates deserve a better celebration then what they had. they all worked so hard to get to this point in life where they get to begin the next chapter in their life. and they never got what they deserved/worked for.

(Gander, 2021-02-09)

My child graduated in 2020 and raised funds for graduation and did not receive anything. Such a poor way to show young adults that "their hard work pays off", sad!

(Pacquet, 2021-02-09)

(Brampton, 2021-02-09)

#135

Proud of the class for speaking up and asking for a resolution to this problem of the funds raised. They raised it. It was for their celebration Let them decide . Not the school or the school board. I hope all schools are given this opportunity!

(Appletonn, 2021-02-09)

I have a 2020 high school grad 👨‍🎓 who completely missed out on the entire experience. The least the school board can do is NOT KEEP the money the students and parents worked hard to raise. I understand there are regulations, but this pandemic is a completely unprecedented experience and the repercussions could never have been “planned for”. The rules in this case NEED to be reconsidered in light of this once in a lifetime event that prevented our kids from finishing their high school careers traditionally.

(Baie Verte, 2021-02-09)

(St Georges, 2021-02-09)

#177

I think it is only fair our kids get what belongs to them not the school, that the least they can do espically since they couldn't have a graduation what they worked for 12 years to accomplish

(Glenwood, 2021-02-09)

#180

I believe the 2020 graduates should be given back the money “they” fundraised. They deserve at least this much for all their hard work.
