The international students have a right to be heard and has equal rights to have a say as to what is going on at Mount Allison University just like Canadians

Representation matters!

International students pay SIGNIFICANTLY more to be here, and contribute significantly to Mount Allison's success. Why shouldn't their voices be heard? Why should they be denied the opportunity to garner support for a position that represents them?

International students face unique challenges every day at MtA from increased tuition costs and culture shock to language barriers and racism. We deserve adequate representation in the student government that is making decisions that directly affect us. As an international student alumni, I’m throwing my full weight behind Sertara and Aminah. It is not only unfair to dissolve this position but excludes an important and significant number of students. The MASU cannot simply use international students to fulfill their diversity quota without giving us an adequate voice on campus.

This affects me directly! There is no representation of me and my feelings on the MASU council and when there was it was taken away? I completely disagree with this decision. There is no way those who have never been in a situation and cannot relate to international students can make decision for them! Something has to change

International students need to be represented and attended to adequately. Left in the hands of other administrative departments, this would not be done.

Im an international kid and this affects my representation in the MTA community

(Sackville, 2020-01-17)

#29

I’m signing because MTA has a high international population that deserves representation. Many of my friends are international students. This position being removed will affect many people and create a negative reputation for the school.

(Sackville, 2020-01-17)

I'm signing because student representation is important, particularly for minorities.

(Sackville, 2020-01-17)

International representation is incredibly important at Mount Allison. There are other places to cut costs, don't hurt our already small international budget.

(Sackville, 2020-01-17)

As an international student, I strongly believe this position helps to support myself, my friends, and many other students at Mount Allison.

(Sackville, 2020-01-18)

I’m signing because representation is vital. More voices, not less.

(Fredericton, 2020-01-20)

As an international student I believe that positions such as these are valuable to my community and should therefore not be disbanded

(Sackville, New Brunswick, 2020-01-20)

I’m signing because, this position facilitated my international transition and improved experience at Mount Allison

I've worked with the MASU for three years while at MTA and I'm honestly disappointed with this action. I've held this position for one year when it first started and I believe it helps bring new ideas and a different pair of eyes to the MASU but also empowers international students to get involved. Please reconsider what has been done and do not follow what other universities have or have no done. Be a leader and let other universities follow your lead.

It's wrong to take away from minority rights. This does not abide by MTA's mandates.

(Riverview, 2020-01-20)

#108

We need adequate representation for international students—why dissolve another position? It's not as if the MASU is overly bureaucratic anyway.

(Sackville, 2020-01-20)

The international student community is an important part of Mount Allison University and it deserves support.

(Sackville, 2020-01-20)

This is something that helps international students succeed at Mt. A

(Sackville, 2020-01-20)

Students who study internationally offer rich diversity to university campuses - it is so so so important that they have the support they need.

(Strasbourg, 2020-01-20)

The representation of international students is key to our university, and eliminating their representatives in any level of university governance impacts mainly students of color and students who do not speak English as a first language. Mount Allison advertises its relationships with international students, and it should not take advantage of the number of international students it has without providing them with sufficient resources and representation

(Sackville, 2020-01-21)

This situation doesn't represent the entire student body -- more communication with the student body as a whole should have been done. The university cant just cut positions and not tell people about it.

(Sackville, 2020-01-22)

I'm signing because I understand what it's like to have what little representation granted to a marginalized group taken away. I'm signing becuase I believe that more representation is always a better alternative to less representation. I believe that dissolving this position will not only cause less representation but will assert that the university believes that International students are not important, but rather a token to be used. To put simply, this is not right.
