(Pretoria, 2020-09-16)

#10

Social workers are essential in making sure that the most vulnerable individuals are catered for. The social work profession has been exploited and degraded for too long. Something must be done to save this noble profession.

(Polokwane, 2020-09-16)

#11

(Malamulele, 2020-09-16)

#19

I am an unemployed social work graduate since 2015. The Department of Social Development in Limpopo promised employment after completing the course through their bursary. However it has has been year after year of empty promises until to date. I have been robbed of my future because I am still leaving in poverty. If it was not the Department of Social Development that lied to me, I would have studied another course, but my time has been wasted.

(MALAMULELE, 2020-09-16)

I obtained my social work degree in 2015 and i am unemployed to date!

(Polokwane, 2020-09-16)

#32

I am an unemployed social work graduate while I completed my degree in 2014. There are limited NGOs in Limpopo where we can be hired and other provinces consider applicants from their vicinity. Ive been on contracts after contracts earning a stipend of less than 6000 while holding an Honours degree. Can the department prioritise the absorption of social workers just like other departments prioritises its core employees like department of education prioritises the employment of teachers. Social development rotates around umd social workers but there is a serious shortage in Limpopo and those in offices are swamped with cases beyond their control while thousands are unemployed.

Unemployment in the Social Work field is of paramount importance. A country faced with so much social illnesses like GBV, School gangstersim and unemployment ofcourse, should prioritise addressing such issues through Social workers intervention. We can not agree to the statement that says state does not have money whereas it's in the media daily that state Departments are involved in corrupt activities. Employ a graduate.

(Polokwane, 2020-09-16)

#75

Am tired of the department of Social Development's failure to honour their promise of absorbing graduate Social Workers as per the content of the contract which was entered into by the two parties while financing the graduate's education at different South African Universities. Their continuous lies to the public over the media that there is and was never any contract entered into between the two parties which guaranteed any placement after completion of studies there was such a contract.

(Limpopo, 2020-09-16)

(Limpopo, 2020-09-16)

#87

Social work graduates prepared themselves to help relieve people's suffering, fight for social justice, and improve lives and communities. Today we are suffering unemployment while our department is full of ignorance and corruption. It is very sad to acquire knowledge to assist vulnerable people and after you become vulnerable, the worse part your vulnerability caused by the same department that proposed you. Looking at social workers they are great example for our commitment to advocacy, social justice, and helping individuals, families, and communities who need them (us) most. By the way there's a great need of social workers within our provice and South Africa at large. May DSD absorb social work graduates and stop causing more vulnerability to us, we acquired knowledge to serve the needy but today we are needy and the DSD is failing us. Please show that social workers has value and are needed and stop undermining us. When yu climb the leather remember those who are behind take their hands and assist them to climb as well. Its too painful to advice a child to go to school while you are a graduate and staying at home with no job.
#Employ_Social_Work_Graduates

(Giyani, 2020-09-16)

#89

Vulnerable community has a right to access the service of a Social Worker even in time of crisis.
Unemployed Social Worker can provide much needed intervention to address social ills such as GBV to name few.
