Petition to Improve the Service Capacity of the Germiston Energy Depot

The current service levels provided by the Germiston Energy Depot are unacceptable. While we are aware of staff, equipment, and vehicle shortages, residents are often left without power for extended periods of time.  

We, the residents of Germiston hereby petition MMC for Energy, the City Manager, Dr. Imogen Mashazi, and the HOD for Energy, Mr. Tshilidzi Thenga, to put measures in place to ensure that service calls are attended to within the required service level standards.

Communication for outages should be as follows: short-term area outages - every 6 hours, long-term area outages - 3 times within a 24hr period, large or industrial areas - every 4 hours, and single-user outages - once every 8 hours after the service delivery time has lapsed).

Germiston Councillors should also be provided with a monthly stand-by schedule to assist with the escalation of outages.
