Better Policing at the Benoni Police Station

We, the residents of Benoni note with concern that for the year of 2024, 59 people were murdered in Benoni Police Station precinct.

We call upon the Portfolio Committee of Police to urgently investigate the police station and to report back to the community, with regards to:

• The unacceptably high murder rate and the stations’ inability to address these crimes
• ⁠Whether the station has a strategy to reduce the murder rate
• The number of functional vehicles
• The number of SAPS officers allocated to the station
• The number of unsolved murder dockets
• Any other factors inhibiting the Police from doing their jobs
