The fact that this is happening is a joke. Bars, clubs ,music venues and festivals are more than capable to paying for musicians. In no other industry is the service provider expected to pay to provide a service. I wonder if your Punters found out how you operate would they still endorse your establishments because, at the end of the day, you are taking advantage of people.

Stop publicans and promoters from exploiting young musicians to fill bars. Entertainment is an art and a career and musicians deserve to be paid- even at entry level.

#5

Naming names: Paddy Fogarty. Atrocious behaviour. I played my first gig with him in 2008 and he's still swindling money out of young bands without doing any actual promotional work himself. Less pay to play. More paid to play.

Pay to play is demeaning for acts. It's a disgusting process and is a complete money making scam for the "promoters". These people sit back and watch new, young talent do their job for them as they sit back and take all the money. Pay to play needs to stop!

That's damn right dude. They make money off the bar, they share the profits with the people who drew the crowd in the first place. THE POXY BAND1
