Justice for the Girls: Demand Accountability for Alpheous Nxumalo

We, the undersigned, stand united in demanding justice for the girls who have suffered sexual abuse at the hands of Alpheous Nxumalo, the former Government Spokesperson of Eswatini. Recent reports indicate that Nxumalo has been arrested and detained at Mafutseni Police Station amid serious rape allegations involving the children of his pastor friend .

These allegations are not isolated incidents but rather highlight a disturbing pattern of abuse of power and trust. The fact that a high-ranking government official is implicated in such heinous crimes underscores the urgent need for systemic change and accountability within our institutions.

We call upon the Eswatini government and judicial system to:

1. Ensure a thorough and transparent investigation into the allegations against Alpheous Nxumalo, free from political interference or influence.
2. Provide comprehensive support and protection for the victims and their families, including access to counseling, legal assistance, and safe environments.
3. Implement and enforce stringent measures to prevent sexual abuse and hold perpetrators accountable, regardless of their position or status.
4. Promote awareness and education on sexual abuse and victims’ rights to empower communities to speak out and seek justice.

The safety and dignity of our children must be a paramount concern. We must break the silence and dismantle the structures that allow such abuses to occur and persist.
