I learned to fly at this airfield and along with its history it would be crime for it to cease to function, especially has there are alternative sites for the wind farm.

I am a big supporter of renewable energy, but not in locations like North Coates where they jeopardise existing businesses and operations.

Light aviation is a valuable part of our economy, providing jobs and income. There can be no justification for threatening a viable airfield for the sake of investors' convenience. There are clear alternatives for the siting of the development.

Windfarms are great; if they're or at sea or somwhere with no impact ... but have no place near an active Airfield ... thats just asking for trouble

I lost my airfield due to the crazy government inspector agreeing to the planning consent for 4 Turbines which the local council had turned down.We would have had the 4 of the largest in the country at 130.5 mtrs they would have affected our Paramotor training and put my students in a dangerous situation. but the inspector thought differently and granted the planning the whole process is a farce over £32000 in legal fees raised by local villages and in the end came down to one man.

Electricity from windfarms is unreliable and cannot be stored. Wind is an intermittent and unpredictable energy source; it can provide neither the base-load nor the load-following power required by the Grid. It is beyond dispute that windfarms require at least 90% backup from reliable controllable energy sources.
• National Grid data shows that windfarms cannot be relied upon to provide us with energy when we most need it. The cold weather of December/January 2009/10 illustrated this problem. With high pressure and a lack of wind only 0.2%, of a possible 5% of the UK's energy was generated by wind turbines during this time of greatest need.

Easy money maybe driving this, what could be simpler
take the money and walk away leaving the end to a historic airfield to memory. I hope enough support shows up to stop this erosion.

I have visited North Coats Flying club on a few occasions. It is a vibrant community of aviation enthusiasts who depend upon open country side for their operation. The position of the airfield was chosen by the MOD for this very reason. How can local planners allow new development in potentially dangerous locations to what was originally a government designated area? This should not be allowed to happen, it is morally wrong.

Alternative Energy is vitally important to the longevity of MAN! However, ground based activities like housing and farming are not exposed to the same risk as light aircraft would be by turbines. I fully support alternative energy but when planning consent has been in place so long for the runway/airfield how can a company be given permission to erect anything that could affect the airfields safe operation. It's not a case of "not in my back yard like" so many objections, this would be dangerous. Generally people who object to alternative energy from a "spoil the view" perspective should have their electricity cut off permanently. Good Luck North Coats.

North Coates has been an airfield for over 90 years and has a wartime record equal to that of the more celebrated RAF fields. Over the last two decades a small group of people have worked extremely hard to establish an airfield which is not only of great benefit to the general aviation movement but, by establishment of a museum documenting the airfield's history, is a focal point for the whole local community.

Remember places like North Coates are the reason we were not defeated in ww2 ,Do not destroy our history with something that will not be remembered .

I've been flying since 1977, in that time the aviation sites have always been targeted. Work together for a greener planet, better sites for wind power that benifit everyone not just the money hungry companies.

Are wind profits more important than pilots lives? It would seem so to the Planning authorities. There are simple no-nos in aviation and one is tall structures on approach and climb out areas of runways. Truth is that weather can find people in situations outside their capability and the nearest airfield is sanctuary. Not so if surrounded by met masts and turbines.

I had my first flight from North Coates and it is an invaluable resource as an airfield, which must not be lost.

If there is a safe alternative?....the common sense dictates that it is used? Or are smart power not equipped with common sense.We need more Airfields and leisure places? Not less.
