Petition City of Tshwane to repair streetlights in Ward 83

1. PETITION AGAINST THE CONTINUOUS, UNACCOUNTABLE LACK OF BASIC STREETLIGHT SERVICES IN RESPECT OF THE CONSTANTIA PARK, WATERKLOOF GLEN, NEWLANDS. MORELETAPARK AND ERASMUSKLOOF AREAS - (WARD 83):  

We, the undersigned, DEMAND that the City of Tshwane Metropolitan Municipality take immediate action on behalf of all rate and tax paying residents located within its aforementioned jurisdictional areas, by embarking upon whatsoever measures and/or steps as may be reasonably necessary and/or required, to investigate the current lack of streetlight services provided to the aforementioned areas and TO RESOLVE such a lack of streetlight services, in order to ensure that same meet our essential needs and rights, of the community. The community is suffering increased crime and vehicle accidents at night due to the lack of proper lighting. Residents ARE and feel unsafe and they are prone to street attacks when walking or exercising. The Municipality must act in a transparent, accountable and equitable manner in that regard when investigating the causes of such continuous and/or re-occurring streetlight outages/malfunctions by openly disclosing to its residents any discovered causes of such outages  - (i.e. to comply and discharge with its relevant statutory duties and/or functions in accordance with inter alia the Constitution of the Republic of South Africa, the Municipal Systems Act (Act 32 of 2000), the Municipal Structures Act (Act 117 of 1998) and/or any other relevant and/or prevailing legislation or regulations issued in terms thereof.
