Feel cheated by HDB! From Chinese temple now become columbarium!!! Can't they put else where?! Why need to squeeze together?!

Against. It's should be stated up front (purpose of site). Why don't they build it beside istana.

Guest#35 Dec 30, 2014, 08:45
It's just a stupid idea to built, and they never think the ppls living there and to park car at the creepy carpark! Cos the carpark will be beside the temple! Why don't they built to your side and you will know how the feeling is!
Guest#36 Dec 30, 2014, 08:51
Not happy with columbarium near my block. Also worried about noise pollution.
Guest#37 Dec 30, 2014, 09:12
No columbarium in fernvale lea, whoever planned doesn't have brain. I admitted
Singapore is very small but do they need to go the the extend of building
A columbarium in such a place with high resident density and how can the
Columbarium be out of sight from the surrounding building. Unless we stay
At home 24hrs or we are blind or what. I believe they have already started
Doing a funeral service sometimes back on the plot of land when I visited the sites. ( I was very puzzled then but now I know what is happening Liao)

fernvale rivergrove, LEA, Ridge and Lush condo all KANA

NO NO NO!!!

Zonning

The space is zoned as a Place of Worship and not a commercial plot. Life corp should not be setting their office there to run funeral services, columbarium space and associated services - not to mention that they are for-profit. If were to look at offices of the Singapore Funeral Services Care Pte Ltd. (Life corp's singapore arm) and also Singapore Casket, they operating under the commerical zoned plot.

This is not right and not the way a zoned Place of Worship plot should be used.

Property price... Hai.
Guest#41 Dec 30, 2014, 09:52
no columbarium at that area. it will make people uncomfortable. please shift to a place where there is no resident living there.
Guest#42 Dec 30, 2014, 10:01
HDB cannot do this to us! No matter how they defend themselves, just imagine if you bought a unit there and been patiently & anxiously waiting to move into your first new home, and you find out there's going to be a unexpected temple with columbarium, it's totally unacceptable. I really hope they can move they to somewhere else where there's not so near residential area. It's only fair to all of us who is going to love there.
Guest#43 Dec 30, 2014, 10:05
I seriously feel it is not a right thing to do. It is a housing estate, not a suitable place to build columbarium.
Guest#44 Dec 30, 2014, 10:06
No columbarium please. Build more shopping mall instead.
Guest#45 Dec 30, 2014, 10:21
Columbarium shld be in forested area not in residential area. How can you all develope in that area where many young families jus started their own lovely nest n it feel like being destroy. Moreover before we purchase it only seem to be chinese temple. If we all know is columnbarium probably no one will buy. Fernvale's property value already very low compare to other estate. Why target that area where still got others empty land in singapore.
Guest#46 Dec 30, 2014, 10:35
It's disturbing!! Why in the middle of the dense estimate. It makes no sense.
Guest#47 Dec 30, 2014, 10:49
How can the DEAD and the LIVING be sharing the same space?! Outrageous!
Guest#48 Dec 30, 2014, 11:12
Pls relocate
Guest#49 Dec 30, 2014, 11:23
Normally it is built in a quiet and peaceful place in respect of the dead. Building it among the crowded and busy residential areas does not make sense for the living and dead. If this is a plan, it should be stated clearly and early so that buyer can consider before buy the house. Now many are caught by unwanted surprise.

Also a future resident of Fernvale Lea.

Fyi, think the land was sold by HDB to the company building temple cum columbarium, not NEA or URA.

Is this fair? We waited for 3 years to find out that this is what we are getting? If this is a business decision by HDB, at least be upfront from the beginning. Then those of us uncomfortable will not opt in from the start.

Contacted HDB but they couldn't give us an answer or solution. We heard the so-called already-stated-in-the-booklet-temple-could-be-used-for-columbarium-purposes story. But why is the clause in such small prints that not many people actually realised it was there?

So what's next for us? Accept that we are plain unlucky? If don't like, just forfeit our 5% deposit and life goes on? Is this the direction that HDB is going?
