i cannt belive they have taken away the bench.

this wasent just a bench they ripped out they ripped out a piece of anyone who lived theres heart.

it may just be a bench to anyone who has lived there for 10 minutes but to the rest of us this  bench was a memory bench for anyone who ever lived there and spent time there taking to there friends, playing ache round it, met there in your halloween costumes, waited for the chinese van, meet youth club workrs there, waited for the school bus, waited for there friends, or just to relax half way up the street. a place where your parents could find you.

everyone i grew up with had there name or mark on this bench it showed we were there but piece by pices the commitee has taken away most of our childhood memorys to the point that little harrowden is not the vilage we all remember.

but one thing i do no never changes about the people of this village they will all stand up together for somthing that they think is not right. so good luck to anyone who is going to take them all on.

Because if anyone else had taken it they would have been told that it was steeling and to return it , kids would have been told off SO PUT IT BACK it did look good there , flower box's will be weed box's soon, Harrowden hasn't got a lot and now the older people can't even sit and chat ..

Because I have lived here for 28years and I remember all the local kids on that bench. Also it's there for any-one to sit on.

Having grown up in the village and having family that still live there and being a regular visitor to the village this is an issue I feel strongly about.  Put the bench back in its rightful place!

I was born and raised in the village and knew Jock and Josie Kerr. The council have allowed everything else to disapear from the village, shops, post office, bus service etc. They must leave the bench!

my family use to live in Little Harrowden
Guest#33 Dec 11, 2015, 00:34
I grew up in Harrowden and had many happy memories. The shops have now gone, the pubs too. DONT TAKE OUR BENCH!

The council has no right removing a bench paid for by the public
Guest#35 Dec 11, 2015, 01:30
Cos my nan and grandad lived there for over 30 years and are buried in the church there!!
Guest#36 Dec 11, 2015, 06:48
Terrible to remove this bench, heartless.
Guest#37 Dec 11, 2015, 06:54
Why remove a bench that the locals want and replace it with something that they don't want.
Guest#38 Dec 11, 2015, 07:15
I am a former resident of the village & eager to preserve its sense of community.
Guest#39 Dec 11, 2015, 08:10
The bench means so much go the village it will be a sad loss .x.
Guest#40 Dec 11, 2015, 08:45
Councils should consult the villagers before making decisions. If this is not wanted surely its a waste of public funds. Put the money to a better use.
Guest#41 Dec 11, 2015, 09:01
I was born in little harrowden so we need to keep the bench
Guest#42 Dec 11, 2015, 09:15
As this bench was in memory of a villager it should be replaced. A bench is much more usfull than a plant pot!
Guest#43 Dec 11, 2015, 09:17
I have used this bench in the past and feel it is needed
Guest#44 Dec 11, 2015, 10:20
The council has no right to remove a public memorial
Guest#45 Dec 11, 2015, 10:37
The council are rude and need to be sorted out. How dare they play with emotion,s.
Guest#46 Dec 11, 2015, 11:25
Every village green should have a bench. This is traditional English part of our heritage.
Guest#47 Dec 11, 2015, 11:32
Cannot see the logic in removing a public facility like this, especially if a substitute feature will need more looking after.
Guest#48 Dec 11, 2015, 14:03

if you look online on parish website they have oct minutes stating that the bench is going to be discussed...however there is no mention of quotes for works relating to planters or benches.....there is also no detail of any vote on the matter.....this means that they are not keeping us villagers up to date.....they are withholding information so we don't even get a chance to attend future meetings and have a right of reply...essentially they are using their positions to pay for things that predomenantly are for their own benefit...this is wrong!!!look at all recent expenditures....planters, flagpoles, even the metal sign...all next to their houses...what about near the willows...what about the roundabout...what about hilltop........we need to show our concerns.....our parish council should be working for the good of us all....unfortunatley they pay no regard to longstanding, hardworking members of our community + the supposed antisocial behaviour is a real cop out on their part.....on the whole we have an outstanding bunch of youngsters...we should be thankful our area is so nice and safe and peaceful

Villages need to retain their identities & as the bench was a focal point & provided 'in memorial' it should be left in situ for peoples continued
enjoyment !!
Guest#50 Dec 11, 2015, 19:34
Many people enjoyed sitting on this bench as it was in the centre of the village.it has always been there and it's disgusting that it's been ripped out and replaced with a tin pot flower bed
