Save the 29 trees lining Ladies Mile Highway, Queenstown, NZ

I don't like cutting trees in NZ. Where I from hardly see any trees around and it is very hot without the trees... Trees and grass is part of the symbols of NZ this is why tourists love to visit NZ because of the nature.
STOP CUTTING THE TREES.

These trees are iconic, they soften the entrance into Queenstown, put the wires underground. For tourists driving into Queenstown they must be so impressed by how gorgeous that entrance is, and it also softens the blow of what is being created when they get closer to Frankton.

I've filmed on this road on numerous occasions and it's crazy for Queenstown to be doing this sort of thing. This sort of thinking is like bulldozing the Remarkables flat.

The trees have been a part of the arrival into Queenstown since before I can remember, it would be a travesty if they were to be removed!

Because the trees provide an attractive visual entranceway into the district, and this is not enough justification for removal - surely they can be kept trimmed to avoid the power lines. The established trees, and green surroundings provide the special character that makes this area unique!

 Surely if an easement can be obtained from the landowners the poles could be moved away from the road with minimal cost compared to burying them. I don't think anything can be built within 50m of this road anyway? This way the trees would hide the ugly power lines from motorists view. I drive along this stretch of road nearly every day and it is very popular and relatively safe place for people to stop and collect chestnuts which adds to the local charm.

These trees are part of the gateway to Queenstown & as such need to be protected at all costs. I'm sure many locals would put their hands in their pockets to help save them from removal. Please sign this petition before they get the chop!!

Those trees make the entrance to this area one of the nicest I have seen anywhere in the world. They were there before the poles.

Delta, you chose to put the power lines above the trees. It is your responsibilty to take care of them. They have been planted for the benefit of generations to come.

I often drive this route and the trees form a wonderful path into and out of Queenstown. Also they are a memorial for the person with the foresight and generosity to plant and nurture them over the years for the enjoyment of others.
Put the power underground! Leave the trees alone.

Sounds like Q/town grew up there and the council love cutting trees down. In Q/town it self there use to be a lot of trees but they were cut down. It should not be allowed. If its such a problem put the power lines under ground!

Healthy, mature trees should not be felled because the power lines are in the way. Move the power lines!

Queenstown was my home for many years. There have been a great number of changes in recents years that have impacted on the beauty of the country side leading into Queenstown. The Trees along the Ladies Mile are such an important part of the environment as you drive into Queenstown.

I agree with another solution these trees look lovely, they may not grow that much bigger and could just be prunned. If they were to cut them down, they could replant trees that weren't close to the power lines or ones that don't grow that tall.

they deserve to live---having lived there so long and how TERRIBLE it wld be without them there!!! Think of the HARD work of those that planted them!!
