I agree we should spend more money at home and less abroad. Our government should do what the people want, not what they and Europe want.
Guest#202 Feb 12, 2014, 13:51
One cubic foot of silt removed from the bed of the river allows 6.25 gallons of water to flow therefore over 50ft is = 312.5 gals of water if flow of river is 1mph alows 1,650000 gals /p/hour =39,600,000 over 24hrs thats a lot of water!.start dredging again.

Guest#204 Feb 12, 2014, 13:53
This government stand no chance next year .Thatcher didn't listen and got too big for her boots , she was soon dumped . Then we got the next sorry lot
Guest#205 Feb 12, 2014, 13:54
Why do we GIVE money to corrupt countries when our own TAX PAYERS are suffering. CHARITY DOES BEGIN AT HOME. Think about it, better still do something about it.
Guest#206 Feb 12, 2014, 13:56

mr. Cameron you need to think about the british people, spend some of this f/aid on flood victims I just cannot understand your logic  we need somebody in power that will listen to us, ukip maybe.

Guest#207 Feb 12, 2014, 13:56

Cameron and his cohorts are a bunch of self-serving tossers, The politicians haven't go a clue what the ordinary Brit feels about this and other issues. Other countries call a state of national emergency and mobilise all the resources available to get things done. Our lot just ponce about whatever the crisis. Give them the chop now.

Overseas aid should be diverted. Charity begins at home. Our friends are desperate, snd we must look after them before trying to save the world

I was strongly against overseas aid before the flooding and I feel Cameron is doing himself a great deal of harm refusing to listen.
Guest#209 Feb 12, 2014, 13:57
Suggest if the three "Amigos"Cameron,Miliband,
Clegg go emigrate to these aided countries we the British people would be better off for it.It is disgusting that ordinary working people are having to tell these drips (from all parties)how best our taxes be spent.Putting the needs of overseas countries before our own is unjust, unfair and an insult to the people of Great Britain.Just ask the flood victims!
Guest#210 Feb 12, 2014, 13:57
no british government conservatives/labour/lib dems, are living in the real world. they are all useless. sending money abroad foreign aid, needs aid right now.where is help from other countries in the world rushing to us help the uk.not only money, extra bodies to help us.why has this government not. declared state of emergency for the uk
Guest#211 Feb 12, 2014, 13:57
I am fed up and angry at the amount of tax payers money this government squanders on overseas aid, charity should begin at home. As tax payers, we the general public should have more say in this matter, but as usual the government does not listen.
Guest#212 Feb 12, 2014, 14:01
When is this country/government going to realise that it is time it looked after number one and stop helping countries who need to take more responsibility for themselves instead of being sponsored by this country. It is long overdue that it that should look after its own first.
Guest#213 Feb 12, 2014, 14:01
Charity begins at Home Review of Overseas Aid urgently needed
Guest#214 Feb 12, 2014, 14:04
How many of the countries we have sent aid to over the last 10 years have put their hand in their pocket to help our flood victims. Stop helping the so called poor countries who have neucular programmes space programmes etc. Help our own first.
Guest#215 Feb 12, 2014, 14:06
It is about time the Government realised that money is needed here instead of keep sending our money o foreign countries, there are a lot of countries who get our money who do not need it, it is about time they thought of us for a change
Guest#216 Feb 12, 2014, 14:12
Charity begins at home
Guest#217 Feb 12, 2014, 14:18
we must look after our own people before sending money abroad to make Cameron look in international eyes
Guest#218 Feb 12, 2014, 14:20
There comes a time when the needs of our own British people must come before the sometimes questionable aid so easily sent to some very dubious countries. Let us hope our so called leaders take heed of the majority opinion held in the UK that Aid funds must now be sensibly diverted for Britain's needs!
Guest#219 Feb 12, 2014, 14:22
the whole thing is a disgrace, the environment agency stopped dredging the rivers over twenty years ago as part of a scene to create flood planes and then are surprised when homes get flooded, what kind of idiots do they employ?
Guest#220 Feb 12, 2014, 14:23
overseas aid in cash should be dramatically reduced to countries where corruption is rife because all it does is line the pockets of government officials and never reaches the people it is supposed to help. It is much better to build the schools/infra structure projects and then hand them over to the countries concerned.
Guest#221 Feb 12, 2014, 14:25
We have been giving money to every county for years and it still hasn't made any difference to there lifestyle there still poor.So charity begins at home why should we the tax payer keep on giving them our money let's look after our own for a change ok
Guest#222 Feb 12, 2014, 14:27
i would cancel overseas aid permanantly not just for this flood
Guest#223 Feb 12, 2014, 14:33
These people need help ,stop the foreign aid .help the ones on our doorstep .
Guest#224 Feb 12, 2014, 14:38
The Daily Mail is quite right to launch this petition. We need a new political party that cherishes the history, vakues and tradition of this country. The actual politicians are just their for themselves, all of them, Tory,Labour,Lib,etc
Guest#225 Feb 12, 2014, 14:40
I would like to see a great majority of the overseas budget given to the people that have had their homes devastated by the flood and particularly the farmers to feed their livestock after all animal feed has been ruined with the water and to replace stock that has had to be destroyed because of this. We need the aid in this country now before we send anymore overseas.
