because i feel strongly the angelus should remain. its harming nobody, and many still like to take time out to pray, and after all its only a minute long. i grew up with it.

I grew up with the Angelis...it's part of my religion WHY should someone decide to just change it ..why shoul we change it because their are other different religions here now..everyone to their own our religion should be respected if you go to other countries we have to respect their religion so why should we have to change it to suit others. So we want to keep the Angelus the same as it always was suit ourselves not everyone else..keep it not change it

I am a Hindu by faith living here for past 15 years.I feel that Christianity is the essence of this country and the reason that makes this country such a nice place to live for people from all parts of the world. For this reason I believe everything including Angelus should continue the way it is.

I signed because I am a Catholic Christian and I appreciate the reminder to stop what I'm doing and direct my thoughts to heavenly things at least once a day. I signed because I can see how RTE find it impossible to promote abortion and other perversions of nature - whilst sounding out the life affirming Angelus gong. The Angelus is the short story of life affirmation - despite all adversities. I would rather do without RTE than support their culture of death. AMEN

And after reading some of the other comments just now, I think the folloing clarification is neeeded. There was a time in Ireland where only the gentry posessed a time piece of their very own. Therefore the men, women and children working the land had no idea what time of day it was (especially if it was cloudy or raining) The Churches rang the bells at 12.00 noon which reminded the people it was time for a break and a meal ALONG WITH reminding them that there's more to life than work and to direct our thoughts to our maker and HIS works. The same applied at 18.00 oclock where we were reminded it was tea-time and maybe time for supper. Children could be directed to come home after one or the other bell soundings and so on....

Becuse i thing its a shame to take away something we have had in this country for years ..it brings back so many memories for people like myself plus its a 1 minute reflection to be thankful for the day we have had..

Why should we give into taking down signs of our Christian religion for foreign people of different persuasions. If we were to go to live in their country would we be be able to demand changes in their religious practices just to suit us?

The Angelus is part of our humble lives, Why would anyone want to change this.. If certain people dont like our Angelus, I'm sure they have an off button on their telly..
