#22023-05-23 15:01Personally knocking it down would have been the option to solve all problem because even though they will save some of the remaining building it's still gonna be an eye sore for years to come, and the businesses in the town are already feeling hard times due to the road being closed for so long, there is nothing to live about this this town anymore as now it seems they are putting buildings first before people, it's just a joke, if it was London or another town this would have been sorted and the roads opened just days after it happened, however nobody actually mentioned what caused the fire, was it an inside job, was it the because it was old building, who knows, there is alot of questions not being answered, knock it down save the town |

#32023-05-24 06:20the multi-agency group has urged the owners of the listed buildings to expedite the works as swiftly as possible, but they have still to do so - despite the SDNPA having served them with an Urgent Works Notice. I also understand that the multi-agency group has provided regular press statements and held meetings with the Midhurst business community to update them on the situation.
The Secretary of State's policy is to only consider it for de-listing after a rigorous appraisal of the facts has taken place. Nor will applications for de-listing generally be considered whilst such a building is the subject of enforcement action by the relevant local planning authority or such action is likely, or if it is subject to other legal proceedings.
In the case of The Angel Inn, The Tuck Shop and Cranstons, Historic England has advised that it considers them to be capable of restoration repair. If this proves to be possible, this is likely to produce a better long-term cultural and economic outcome for Midhurst, given that part of its attraction to visitors as an important historic market town is its characterful historic buildings. |

#42023-05-26 07:45A 'facade' is a deceptive outward appearance... in other words fake. This circus of the 'Multi-Agency Recovery Group' is clearly also a facade. Just because something is old, does not automatically mean it is good and worthy. Surely there is some one in authority who can step in and over rule this insanity! |
