To help our town

If something is broke fix it, not shut it down.. A fortune has been spent doing up the A&E, let a bit of common sense prevail here, use it...

Would hate to lose this service I have two children one with special needs, also my sister for has had to make several trips in and would not be here to only for them.
Guest#56 Jun 03, 2015, 20:55
I've depended on this hospital many times when children were younger , never had an issue staff were always great , without an a&e service I worry what will happen in case of an emergency , we need our hospital .
Guest#57 Jun 03, 2015, 21:07
Because I agree that Portlaoise hospital should stay open in the present capacity
Guest#58 Jun 03, 2015, 21:09
Formerly from kilminchy Portlaoise and have alot of family living in Laois. More resources are needed not less!

This government are not making the cuts to Portlaoise hospital on the grounds of the publics safety. they are making the cuts because it is costing them and not making a profit for them. They don't care about people, they cut all health services in all hospitals including ambulances even though it is the tax payer who pays for the health service but they rather see our money go to IRISH WATER instead of protecting our health and lives. This government need to go now!!!

To save more lives
Guest#63 Jun 03, 2015, 21:14
Portlaoise dealt with more people in A and E last year than Tallaght This service is required Instead of downgrading the hospital which is easily accessed from so many places Resources should be pumped in
Guest#64 Jun 03, 2015, 21:16
Save Port Laois A&E the town and surrounding areas need this facility to safe lives
Guest#65 Jun 03, 2015, 21:16
Signed this for the 30,000 people who used this hospital a&e in the last year
Guest#66 Jun 03, 2015, 21:21
Because I not only want Portlaoise be saved. But it should be upgraded and given the proper finances to see it at the same level as Tullamore or Naas!
Guest#67 Jun 03, 2015, 21:28
After spending all day in portlaoise a&e with a friend and to think that people would have nowhere to go in a genuine emergency in the Laois area is just unthinkable and disgraceful to even consider withdrawing such a crucial part of emergency healthcare is a huge error of judgment from those responsible for even considering taken such a drastic decision!!!
Guest#68 Jun 03, 2015, 21:29
This is a required service. The emergency services talk about the golden hour with patients that have cardiac arrest, and strokes, closing Portlaoise will only increase this time and the numbers dieing. This will also increase the chances incident with prisoner, like the Portlaoise prisoner stabbing the Prison Officer in Tallght

Where do I go if I get a heart attack, could be dead before I get to Dublin . I also have other illnesses that are not curable
Guest#70 Jun 03, 2015, 21:36

Guest#71 Jun 03, 2015, 21:45
Portlaoise and surrounding areas needs a&e
Guest#72 Jun 03, 2015, 21:46
We need to upgrade our hospital not downgrade it we have a very big population in laois we need our A and E
Guest#73 Jun 03, 2015, 21:46
Port Laois is my local A&E the closest if it closes is Tullamore or Naas which are both over 30 mins away. Plus it will remove a inline A&E adjacent the motorway leaving no A&E on the stretch of motorway Limerick to Naas and from Clonmel to Naas surely it proximity alone to the converging m7 and m8 makes it worthy of 24hrs A&E service.

I am so angry that the government are closing Portlaoise A&E I have had my 4 children in this hospital I have had many a visits to A&E with my children and myself the staff are fantastic. All hospitals has faults if u put the money and the resources into the hospital instead of taking it away it would be more sense instead of spending money on crap. Are the government going to take the responsibility of someone's loved one that dies because they had to travel that extra half hour or hour to another hospital how will they explain themselves then SHAME ON you...
Guest#75 Jun 03, 2015, 21:49
I have attended this hospital and will again. We need this hospital. Dublin needs to remember there are 25 other counties in Ireland.
