Let's save Sylvester because he is lonely and looking to join a pride. He is only 3 yrs old and deserves better than a bullet.
Guest#102 Mar 30, 2016, 06:45
why must an animal be put down due to human error. Relocate the animal !!!
Guest#103 Mar 30, 2016, 06:50
FIX THE FENCE!!!!...dont kill this beautiful creature, that has done NOTHING wrong!
Guest#104 Mar 30, 2016, 06:50
All creatures have a right to live, man has encroached, so he should be the one to protect other creatures and not kill if they do not conform. The lion has done nothing wrong for wanting to claim its freedom.

save sylvester

Conservation means Conserve. It is the responsibility to ensure the well-being of all forms of the Eco system within the boundaries of a declared nature reserve. Technology exists to dart and relocate Sylvester. Temporary enclosure with a plan to reintroduce him,too another nature reserve. My recommendation is to consider relocating to Gorongoza Park in Mozambique.

I'm against the idee to put down the lion
MieMie#110 Mar 30, 2016, 07:06

Putting down a lion because of a DAMAGED FENCE is completely unnecessary!! In my eyes it is seen as animal cruelty. It is not Sylvester's fault that the fence was not repaired after damage. Relocate him to the Kruger National Park if you think he is a problem!! Think for yourselves people!! if this was you, what would you want people to do? Kill you or give you a better home? Lions are one of the most beautiful animals on the planet, yes they are dangerous, but only when they feel threatened. Please guys, we do NOT want to encourage this kind of behaviour, it is seen as an easy way out, not having to deal with a problem like this again? Unacceptable.

To give Cecil a voice!

Don't Kill Sylvester

Don't make Sylvester pay for doing what lions does best! Especially when your fence was broken!! You can't put the lion down for that! Concerned South Africans try to save lions from canned hunting everyday! SANParks, Be a leader on this issue. The world is watching

Guest#113 Mar 30, 2016, 07:15
He did not do anything wrong. We are in his world....and he is just doing what a wild animal supose to do....be wild
Guest#114 Mar 30, 2016, 07:24
Relocating before culling is the only option
Guest#115 Mar 30, 2016, 07:26
How can SanParks order the immediate killing of Sylvester if they are so stupid and cannot accommodate him. Relocate him to another park - he is a beautiful specimen. He is just being a normal lion. I cannot blame him for wanting to escape. Hope something good comes of this petition. We need every one to help save him.
Guest#116 Mar 30, 2016, 07:28
Although it's been the second time that Sylvester broke through the fence at the park, its not right to put him down for doing what lst. Don't kill him for being a lion. Relocate him to another park where there is no or minimized interaction with humans! SANParks, you got to be exemplary on this issue! The world is watch. Let's conserve him and not kill him!
Guest#117 Mar 30, 2016, 07:33
I feel strongly about nature conservation, surely this lion who keeps on escaping, should be moved to somewhere where he could not escape. Save don't euthenase.
Guest#118 Mar 30, 2016, 07:33

You do not put a lion to sleep because he escapes as a result of a damage fence...... You rehome him to a place like the Kruger National Park etc etc. He was not happy with the other lions at Karoo National Park. This is hot his fault. This is absurd.

Guest#119 Mar 30, 2016, 07:39
Lions roamed the Earth long before we did. They do not belong behind fences, we took their home and not the other way around. He is just taking back what is his and for that he should not be killed.

Because I believe it is not the animal's fault. The authoroties of the park did not do their work. A wild animal does not know not to walk through broken fences. Please send Sylvester to a place where he will be loved and take good care of.
Don Naidoo#122 Mar 30, 2016, 07:55
Its a lion. They were here first. U put up a flimsy fence, it escapes and u blame the animal?? No. I blame the stupidity of those who didn't learn from the first encounter to upgrade the fencing. You SANPARK got schooled by an animal.
Guest#123 Mar 30, 2016, 07:59
Why kill an animal?? It is ridiculous. Improve the safety measures at the park instead of killing Sylvester.
Guest#124 Mar 30, 2016, 08:03
Dis nie nodig om n onskuldige dier dood te maak nie. Gee hom dan liewers vir die Kruger Wildtuin.
