Protect the greenbelt

The housing industry in the UK is a wholly corrupt and broken system designed to maximise profit for corporate executives whilst doing nothing to deal with the shortage of housing in the UK. This is evidenced by the vast swathes of land and unfulfilled planning permissions that the housing companies hold but do not develop. Their lack of action is tacitly complied with by an older generation of home owners in the UK who sit on artificially inflated house prices at the cost of younger generations of Britons for whom the prospect of owning a home is becoming a far off and unrealistic dream. We need to look to a future of alternative models of housing. While we examine the choices in front of us, it is vital that we put an end to the mass destruction of our countryside, and the crunching of our natural resources by cadaverous, greedy elites who will be counting their coin whilst they pump our children full of cancer with this horrendous act of corporate vandalism that is the quarry. The time has come to make a stand.

To stop further damage to Hertfordshire & stop changing / poisoning the water courses.

Too close to local houses and school
Wadesmill Road is not suitable for volume and weight of lorries
It is in an area of natural beauty that is used by locals for walks etc

We are a small town and do not understand why a quarry needs to be in such close proximity to a local school and houses. The amount of Lorry traffic everyday will not be good for noise and pollution.

I feel the huge lorries thundering through tiny lanes will bring chaos, constant noise in a completely residential area, pollution from dust, etc., so close to a school. This is a beautiful area which should be protected from pure greed.

I used to live in Bengeo and have many happy memories from there. I don't want to see it ruined.

Because if it is not stopped it will blight the lives of the local inhabitants.

I have lived in Bengeo for 20 years. my children went to Bengeo Primary. I do not want to see the already changing landscape blighted by a needless quarry. This field is the gateway into Bengeo and should not be spoiled. Common sense has to rule...it is obvious...the noise, pollution and extra traffic would just be the start of the problems. Please this needs a total rethink.

This will likely have a very detrimental effect on the local residents today and long into the future.

The existing quarry adjacent to the proposed quarry is still a mess. Derelict structures have only recently been removed, concrete pipes and derelict weighbridge remain, the landscape is cut up. Why should a new development be permitted whilst the previous excavation is still there as a scar on the landscape?

On top of this, I fully agree with all the other comments regarding preserving a habitat and ensuring the well being of local children and residents.

The notion of a new quarry in that area is absurd.

The pit would degrade the environment, reduce health and wellbeing, change green belt to industrial wasteland

Yes, building a quarry next to a school is a great idea! How dare these selfish individuals care about childrens' health!

Stops this absurd quarry idea - near amazing countryside and a local big school. The quarry in bramfield is bad enough around here with so many lorries and dust and disturbance

Dust and noise pollution for the school and locality. Eyesore and noise will affect all Hertford. Unconvinced by restoration plans.

 We appreciate that many members of the wider community would financially benefit from the gravel extraction in Hertford. We understand that the HCC is under obligation to fulfill their quota of gravel extraction. We do not accept that this site is suitable. Please refer to our website for our reasons.
