STOP TRASHING OUR BUFFALO CITY METRO

This is an unprotected strike and is causing serious detriment to our city ie health ( flies, rats and plague etc etc) , it has and is making investors turn away from the city which is going to cause job losses. I demand ( we demand ) that the BCM takes immediate and appropriate action.
If a councillor has agitated for this to prevent corruption charges he must be fully investigated.
I say no to negotiations but yes to the resignation of the entire city council ANC and non - ANC.
Good citizens of East London rich and poor you have not been brave and vigilant to protect your human rights you now have the council and the rot that is the natural result.

Samwu should give the full thruth about the "14th" cheque to its members as I think some of them don't really understand the wole point of the strike....then everyone could get back to work and keep our "Tourism destination" dream alive.

To attract money and jobs to the city, we need to show our BEST. This is NOT the time to show the outside world that we are not worth their investment. It is also plain BAD manners not to clean up for the arrival of guests. Shame on these workers - I have lost all sympathy for their plight - it must be on their heads if we lose big events - they are causing others to lose their jobs.

I hope the "no work no pay" principal counts for the duration of this strike. Why must I still pay Municipality Rates and Taxes? It seems to me, the "no work no pay" principal is only valid for big Corporations,Government and the fat cats that pockets our hard earned money.

BCMM Stinks and looks like a dump site

There are a lot of people out there who would give their eye teeth to have a job and to serve the community - not like this bunch we have working for BCM who are only interested in their "fat salaries" and all the trimmings that go with it. They all need to be fired and made to reapply for their jobs. And any damages need to come out of their future pay cheques. Enough is enough.

Now we know why our beautiful city has the nickname "Slummies"

We are sick and tired of thieves for senior BCMM officials who are incapable of running our metro and unwilling to accept responsibility for the mess we face on a daily basis. We need to employ people who have skills and integrity not political affiliates.

People can get seriously ill from the diseases caused by the rotting rubbish. These are innocent people who deserves to live in a clean city.

How can BCMM employees feel they deserve a 14th cheque. Do they honestly think they do an honest day's work? If this happened in the private sector they would not be employed for long. I hope BCMM stick to their policy of "no work, no pay" and don't give in to pressure later. That would be trying to fool the public with "smoke and mirrors".Be careful how you handle this BCMM, we ratepayers will only tolerate so much.

My earnings are R6 000 per month and my BCM bill comes to R1 300 per month - very hard earned money and i never miss paying my BCM services and they are non existant. Our city is trashed, is on the decline has been for years. The BCM should be run by a private company who can be accountable for employing staff with qualifications and be accountable.

East London - Your Umtata by the sea...

Give the work to people that want to work. No more strikes.

I am embarressed to live East London. There is no service even when there supposedly is service. BCM does the bare minimum at best. On a good day when the strikers are working the town looks just a bit better than what the town looks like now.

The sooner the "rot" is removed from BCM the better

With the R158 that we paying for refuse is strange BCM is doing nothing about it like hiring a private company for example in collecting refuse.Its really an embarrassment & ashamed the way things are now as East London was once a beautiful town/city.with the elections coming up ill def make my mark.

Please stop trashing our Buffalo city.

we pay so much to BCM for these services, but we dont get any service!!! Why dont we toyitoyi not to pay for rates and taxes and then we dump our own refuse, clean our own pavements and cut our own grass(and the lazy neighbours)... i do it in any case on a monthly basis, as we dont have the priviledge of these services, or any services for that matter, because we even have to buy our water!!!!!!! PATHETIC IS NOT EVEN THE WORD.......

I think it is a shame that we as rate payers have to live in such filth and rubble spread all over the city. Fire them and get people who wants to word, there are lots unemployed people

As an ex-East Londonder (now living in Durban)I'd like say well done to the Dispatch for taking leadership on this issue! The good people of East London deserve better than what the council and Samwu are giving them.

I hope to see the change and that it will be forever. I believe such things always happen annually. May this petition be the final solution.

The Municipality has now become a Public Enemy, encourages filth, over charges for a pathetic service and breeds violence
