PETITION FOR THE RESIGNATION OF PRESIDENT FERDINAND “BONGBONG” MARCOS JR.

To: The People of the Philippines, the Philippine Congress, and the Supreme Court of the Philippines

From: Concerned Citizens, Civil Society Organizations, and Advocates for Good Governance

Subject: A Call for the Immediate Resignation of President Ferdinand Marcos Jr.

Date: March 15, 2025

We, the undersigned, call for the immediate resignation of President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. on the following grounds:

1. Failure in Governance and Economic Mismanagement

• The administration has failed to address pressing economic challenges, including inflation, high food prices, and increasing unemployment, leading to greater suffering among ordinary Filipinos.

• The failure to implement effective policies to curb poverty and provide relief to struggling families has exacerbated economic inequality.

2. Lack of Transparency and Accountability

• The Marcos administration has shown a lack of transparency in government dealings, including questionable expenditures, misallocation of public funds, and refusal to disclose important financial transactions.

• Allegations of corruption and misgovernance remain unaddressed, undermining public trust in government institutions.

3. Human Rights Violations and Political Persecution

• The suppression of dissent, harassment of activists, and attacks on press freedom reflect an alarming decline in democracy.

• Recent cases of political persecution, including the arrest of critics and opposition figures, indicate a pattern of silencing those who speak out against the administration.

4. Failure to Address National Security and Sovereignty Issues

• The administration’s weak stance on foreign incursions into Philippine territories, particularly in the West Philippine Sea, has compromised national sovereignty.

• The failure to uphold the country’s rights against foreign aggression has left the Filipino people vulnerable and without proper protection.

5. Widespread Public Dissatisfaction

• Public protests, declining approval ratings, and growing calls for accountability reflect a loss of confidence in the Marcos administration.

• As the leader of the nation, President Marcos Jr. has the duty to listen to the voices of the Filipino people and acknowledge his failure to lead effectively.

Our Demand:

In light of the above, we, the Filipino people, demand the immediate resignation of President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. and the establishment of a transparent, accountable, and people-centered government.

We urge the Philippine Congress and the Supreme Court to take necessary legal and constitutional actions to facilitate a peaceful and democratic transition of power.

This petition represents the collective will of the Filipino people who believe in democracy, transparency, and good governance.
