Asbestos Danger: Enforce Planning Rules at North Farm Road, Hebburn

We, the undersigned residents and supporters, call on South Tyneside Council to take urgent enforcement action against the ongoing misuse of the former Siemens Shop 7 site on North Farm Road, Hebburn.

The site, which was granted approval for demolition and restoration, is now being potentially used unlawfully as a storage and work yard by Prospect Estates. This activity is occurring without planning consent and is causing persistent noise, dust, and disruption that is seriously affecting the health and wellbeing of nearby residents — including families with young children, the elderly, and those with pre-existing health conditions.

We are deeply concerned about the rise in airborne pollutants, stress, and sleep disturbance, all of which pose a risk to physical and mental health. The site is immediately adjacent to homes, and its current use is incompatible with a residential setting.

We are not against development, but it must be done legally, safely, and with full regard for public health. We demand that:

  • South Tyneside Council investigates and enforces planning breaches on the site.

  • All unauthorised industrial activity is stopped immediately.

  • The land is returned to the approved demolished and restored condition, as originally agreed.

Please sign this petition to help us restore peace, safety, and clean air to our neighbourhood.Asbestos_Danger_Poster.jpg
