### **Petition for Immediate Action and Improved Service Delivery**
We, the undersigned members of the Hammarsdale community and surrounding areas, hereby formally petition Hammarsdale SAPS to urgently fulfill its constitutional and statutory mandate to protect and serve the community with professionalism, efficiency, and accountability.
Our concerns include, but are not limited to:
1. **Failure to Open Cases Promptly**
Community members report difficulties in having cases properly registered and processed. Every complainant has the legal right to open a case and receive a case number without unnecessary delay.
2. **Failure to Respond to Call-Outs**
Reports of emergency call-outs not being attended to in a timely manner place lives, property, and public safety at serious risk.
3. **Failure to Answer Telephones Professionally**
Calls to the station often go unanswered, or are handled in an unprofessional manner. Effective communication is a basic and essential component of policing and public trust.
4. **Failure to Address Illegal Occupation of Land**
The unchecked and escalating illegal occupation of private and state-owned land in the Hammarsdale area has led to:
* Increased criminal activity
* Threats and intimidation
* Destruction of property
* Destabilization of lawful development and community safety
We call upon Hammarsdale SAPS to:
* Immediately improve responsiveness to emergency and community calls.
* Ensure all reported cases are properly registered and investigated.
* Maintain professional conduct in all public interactions.
* Act decisively and lawfully to combat criminal activities linked to illegal land occupation.
* Provide regular community feedback and visible policing to restore public confidence.

We respectfully request urgent intervention from SAPS leadership at provincial and national level to:
* Conduct a service delivery review of Hammarsdale SAPS.
* Implement accountability measures where failures are identified.
* Increase visible policing and operational effectiveness in the area.
The safety, dignity, and property rights of residents and businesses in Hammarsdale must be protected.
