CRIME IN LENASIA MUST FALL
23/03/2016
To whom it may concern,
On behalf of all residents in Lenasia, we would like to express our feelings towards the police and the crime rate in Lenasia.
For sometime now, the crime rate has been escalating to heights unbearable, from muggings to chain snatching, drugs, rapes, hijacking and murders.
This is unbearable and it is time something is done about it.
Every single day there are crimes commited in Lenasia, young and old people are affected and these criminals are getting away.
Recently a young varsity student aged 23 was killed in Lenasia ext 3. She had her whole life ahead of her and it was taken away so cruelly.
At times when we call the police station to notify them about a crime taking place, they usually say that they are short of vehicles to respond and when they do eventually respond the crime is over and the criminals have fled.
Our plea is:
To get a team to come to Lenasia and Lenasia South police stations to start changing the police station around.
To get sector vehicles for each extension - 24 hours with dedicated phone numbers and get those vehicles to work hand in hand with the community patrollers.
To get police to cover the hot spots in Lenasia and Lenasia South, be it walking, cycles or vehicles, but they should be in those hot spots, ie. the CBD, the Station, etc at all times and someone should moniter that this is getting done.
To get serious about drug infested areas and drug lords and put a dedicated task team just to get rid of drugs and drug lords as this is the root of all evil taking place.
To sort out all faulty street lights, flood lights, tall grass, bushes, reeds and potholes as this all contributes to crime.
At the end of the day, this is why we have Police, so that they enforce the law and order, thats all we are asking. We want to have a clean, crime free Lenasia - it is a small town and has a long history and these criminals are destroying it.
Thank You.
