I moved from Portlaoise to Canada over two years ago but it is my intention to one day return home. Portlaoise and its hinterland needs the services of a 24 hour A&E facility. Downgrading such facilities would be a major step backwards and a threat to the lives of the people served by this hospital.

I live in Portlaoise. A and E service is vital. How many lives will end on the road to Tullamore by ambulance? ???? Life exists outside Dublin. I am from Dublin!

Enough is enough austerity is killing people everyday through cutbacks etc,this is criminaland happening all over the world im sick of governments providing money for wars that are unjust but dont have money for their own people,this has to stop now!!

We have used this hospital on a regular basis for my elderly parents . We would struggle without it.

 I think its a disgrace that A and E in Portlaoise is been closed, with small children one of whom has a cronic ilness its very important, where are we supposed to travel to now Tullamore is an hour away in an emergency situation this is just no acceptable but its just so typical of this country we live in!

Every hospital in the country has issues. Most of them of course relate to being under resourced. Fix that issue.... However making a scape goat out of Portlaoise and being so criticised is horrendous. No other hospital has gotten this treatment. Different patients will have different experiences some good and some bad but this is nation wide .. not just Portlaoise !! I hope THIS PETITION WORKS

We need our hospital. Bad enough ambulance having to come from other hospitals with out people having to travel to other hospitals. Your putting people's lives in danger.

 The worst of all of this is if you were to put every hospital under the spotlight everyone of them will have bad stories especially every other maternity hospital in ireland! Portlaoise is under heavy criticism atm but it is not alone  and its foolish in thinking otherwise.

Its ridiculous to close Portlaoise A+E ,where are people with emergencies to go now? Somebody in cardiac arrest ? ,time is of the essence in cases like this As in most A+E calls .Time for people to get singing this petition because at some stage we have all been and will continue to require the treatment of Portlaoise A+ E .

Portlaoise hosp

I have had the pleasure of being cared for there by fantastic people between medical, surgical and anaesthetics. I have a chronic illness and a nurse myself and honestly i would be lost without them. Politicians have alot to answer for after all the horrendous overcrowding made headlines clearly the solution to that is to shut down the a&e services then that are obviously so desperately needed in the first place! Please continue to share this petition and get more more votes!

This closure will not only impact local residents to Port Laois but also to those using (and working in) the other already over stretched hospitals that will pick up the slack.

Because for one I have multiple allergies and I get anaphylactic shocks if I take nuts by accident and my life's at risk if that happens my mother cant drive all the way to tullamore in time and two because we need A/E 24hrs

I am very concerned that if the HSE remove services from Portlaoise Hospital loss of lives, jobs and A&E services .
