People from all over the midlands depend on portlaoise hospital old people , people with kids, not everyone has a car and taking these services away will end in more deaths due to not being seen on time. Its a scary thought as a parent that my nearest hospital would be 40 minutes away.

Portlaoise is a busy hospital and it's dreadful that people have to travel to Tullamore or further to get treatment. They have pumped millions into the hospital over the years and now they want to down grade it. It is a real disgrace that they are going to do this

In 2011 we were told Portlaoise Hospital would be safeguarded. I want the government to do whats right and keep their word.

The closure of Portlaoise A&E is going to have tragic consequences for the catchment area and the spill over will cause more hardship and danger for those in A&E depts that are already dangerously over capacity.

I had both my children in this hospital and recently had a serious enough operation and I cannot fault the nurses and the care I was given.

All the money wasted on a referendum and now we have to petition to keep our a and e open. Bad money management.

All these ones that were quick to phone radio stations.... Talk to papers.... And give out about Portlaoise General Hospital....ye did yer selves no favours what so ever!!!! We all no bad stories sell.... Blaa blaa blaa...... Some comments that ignorant people put up on social media sites were awful & lies. It's a hospital that I'm damm glad of....it's not a hotel.

As my partner spent 11 hours in a&e Naas recently, closing Portlaoise a&e will make chronic conditions in Naas worse.

My Mother had a major operation just before she passed away and the hospital were unbelievable with her, kind, professional, respectful and amazing at their jobs. I've also had family who have used A&e after these restricted hours. We need our A&E and our hospital

This is a essential and vital service to us people living in Portlaoise and the large surrounding areas who depend on this hospital. Another bad decision by our government. Wounder can we depend on our local Councillors to fight our corner.

I hate to break it to you all, but lives are being put at risk the longer this poor excuse of a hospital is allowed to remain open. Close it and close it now for all our sakes!

This is one of the busiest a&e departments outside of dublin, and these ass holes who are running this country decide to cut back the hours is disgraceful. This does not just affect laois but also close surrounding counties. While this government allows the likes of denis o brien and all other corrupt bastards destroy our country its once again the normal people of Ireland who get screwed this petition should be signed by everyone in the country

A certain family that went on prime time & put themselves in the limelight & was the centre of attention who were very well compinsated have a lot to answer for easy no it's not there local hospital

I have been in and out of hospital d last two years...I cannot express d excellent care I received in a..e...and in d hospital itself...all 3 floors... We need to fight and stick together on ths...

If it were not for Portlaoise A&E and their amazing ambulance crew, I would be dead 4 times over. They have saved many of of my family and friends. We need it to stay open for all the community.

Portlaoise is under new management from the coombe hospital.. It's horrible what happened in the past but portlaoise with the population that is now it needs a 24 hour a&e.. It is madness that they send expert bone doctors to tullamore in which I agree.., but more complex illness and kids problems need immediate action straight away and with no a & e after hours it means our children are at risk .. Portlaoise needs to be saved now!!! Please agree people...
