Government funding for young people with learning disabilities

I have a child with ASD and would like to think he will recieve some gelp when he leaves school.

We need much more of places like this for our children

Because I believe in equal rights for all and people with disabilities already have it tough, they don't need it made harder

Because we should support our young people to develop their talents!

This is a vital service that gives young people a trade. The government are always going on about getting people into employment. Cutting this funding for those who need a little extra support is a form of indirect discrimination!!! Why shouldn't those who need a bit extra help not get the same opportunities as the rest of us.

Think this is very important

Because the Resturant fills a gap that is not supplied by Government.

The trusts are trying to take young adults out of Day Care Centres and put them into places where they can do some sort of a job, yet the Government is not willing to fund the very places like One Eighty that are willing to teach skills to the young adults to help them in a work place. What will happen is the only place for these young adults to be is at home and that will put more strain on their Parents i.e. their carers and that can have an affect on their physical and mental health, then the government will have to pay out more money to help look after the carers. As always it goes round in circle.

We have been in the café a few times and been extremely well pleased with the staff and our meals, and we do believe in 'Don't judge a book by its cover' the work that is being done here is very important and shows that these young people have gifts and should be encouraged and not written off. We know how much it means to the young people themselves as my nephew Andrew has a placement there at the moment and we can tell just how much he has learnt and how much it means to him. We would not like to see it close.

An excellent service - this needs to remain open as, locally and for the most part province wide there are very limited opportunities for young people to show off their talents and abilities

My sister avails of the OneEighty Programme and really enjoys the experience

My family live in Portadown and I have been in this cafe quite a number of times,food is fab. The skills that these kids get is fantastic, such a shame to here it might be closing.

Needs to sta open. No reason why it shouldn't!!!!

My niece has Down syndrome she works in the restaurant

My son was hoping to start here in September he will be so disappointed

I have a son with learning difficulties and we got no help at all. He is now 22 and we are still doing everything.

I believe in giving young people with disabilities a chance in working and having there independent...that's what the staff at this cafe does

To bring people together

Not only a fantastic child friendly cafe, but a credit to them for the opportunities that have given all the trainees. Would be such a shame to lose this from the community.
