Many of you speak about your great english country but none of u seem to remember any of the oppression and slavery ur country brought countless lands in history i.e India, South Africa etc. if thats is what u mean by your great Christian country, then i surely pity you because that was not the teachings of Jesus Christ (Essa - as he is referred to Islam). Those claiming to have studied Islam and claim to know Islamic history, I urge you to study Islam from authentic sources and not merely Western propaganda created with the objective of obtaining the very comments i see here.

The logic of your comment begs the question of the level ofignorance being displayed here. You have actually called all those commenting against the mosque "a******s".

To Anna, i commend you on the stance you have taken against, such hatred, intolerance and above all, ignorance. It is by chance i have come across this petition and the comments being raised in support of it. The arguements of many here suggest that Islam does not evolve with the times that we live in. Well York might have been Christian heritage town in England, but times have changed and its now occupied by a vibrant muslim community. No muslims are allowed within the Vatican city, yet many of you ask the question why no churches are allowed in the holy city of Mecca. Others branding muslims as extremists. I suppose the many versions of the bible which have been published by Christian Scholars are what to refer to as evolution of beliefs and culture. The 2 muslim teenagers branded as extremists should be applauded for acting in the name of Islam and true Christianity for the quraan and the bible opposed pornography. Have you ever wondered why nuns are always fully covered?

Those of you claiming to be christians and opposed to the culture displayed by practicing muslims, i urge you to visit your bible and educate yourself as to the attitude christians should display to all religions.

This used to be a Christian country! I dont remember the last time a Christian church was built here! They dont allow churches to be built in Islamic lands so why should we have another 'Trojan Horse'! From what I know of Islam it has no place in a Christian society!
