Two recent local incidents are enough to convince me... so preventable!
Guest#2 May 18, 2016, 03:10
Such a simple common sense solution that will prevent injuries and death WHEN this happens again.
Guest#3 May 18, 2016, 03:15

Those responsible for making this decision need to ask themselves one simple question-

"what if one of my family members was injured or killed in an incident like this?"

Then there will be only one solution to entertain- get this done and get it done now.

We have had 3 people in the last 6 months driving into our building! I don't know what's going on but it always seems to be an elderly person and they have put their foot on the accelerator instead of the brake..And i have been saying we need bollards ( everywhere necessary in Whangarei ) for a while now...lets's just do it! And paint them Hundertwasser styles :)

Such a simple solution that could save lives. I for one don't care if i have to walk around a bollard, i would rather that than see anyone hurt
Guest#6 May 18, 2016, 04:11
I work in the shopping complex this happened in and it highlighted how important they ate
Guest#7 May 18, 2016, 04:14
Because a friend of mine became badly hurt because there was no bollards to protect her. This needs to be prevented from happening before someone is killed
Guest#8 May 18, 2016, 04:40
protection for shoppers and others who may not be aware of traffic issues, parking problems etc.
Guest#9 May 18, 2016, 05:02
We all need to bring out in the public any incidents that involve general public!

I agree on the painting...I have been to places over Australia that have painted bollards and it looks cool...

Guest#11 May 18, 2016, 05:19
This is so important to basically protect everyone who's out and about!
Guest#12 May 18, 2016, 05:25
Bollards are a must! For everyone's safety!
Guest#13 May 18, 2016, 05:28
This could have happened to me! Prevention is better than a cure.
Guest#14 May 18, 2016, 05:55

Too many cases like this. so lucky no one was also on the pavement. We DO need Bollards, they also stop or prevent many crimes.

JayW#17 May 18, 2016, 06:53

Landlords need to put safety first. I know how this lady and daughter suffered terribly and it was PREVENTABLE. $250 per bollard including installaton. It needs to be done - no excuses. Not good enough Landlords. Maybe council bylaws also need to change to make it compulsory.

I too use the shops and one day it could be me or my kids.
Guest#22 May 18, 2016, 08:50
It could be anyone at any time, it creates unnecessary trauma for families for a very long time, the emotional side effect to this may be life long.
Guest#23 May 18, 2016, 09:14
The lady that got hit was injured really badly and still hasn't recovered back to what she was before. She was sorting a cake for her daughters birthday and what the both went through is terrible. I send love to them x

You never know when it might be you or someone you know. Don't believe that will never happen to you. Don't think that poor family as you read about it in the paper or on social media. Here's your chance!
