Exotic animals should not banned, it could make people suffer financially and for members in the hobby
Guest#237 Feb 13, 2014, 14:30
Stupid idea.pTo many jobs will be lost rather focus on abused abimals.
Guest#238 Feb 13, 2014, 14:50
I am against this law!
Guest#239 Feb 13, 2014, 15:36
The petition isn't clear whether one is FOR or AGAINST the proposal. Just to make sure I am against any restriction in the trade of foreign species. It should be allowed for the pleasure of us human mortals. It may help to ensure the survival of some species if there is an economic value in the keeping and trading in exotic species. Then come to think of it I am an exotic species in Africa - are we of European descent next?

Apart from Marmoset and Tamarin Monkeys Ihave a Chihauhau (origanally from Mexico)and Yorkshire terriers (from the UK)to me thats alien dogs. As are most dog breeds and cat breeds in RSA as well as most pet birds and parrots.Don't understand the logic behind this legislation. O, and I forgot to mention fish....gold fish and Koi fish. Will the legislation include them as well.

We owners love our pets. Its becouse Natcon doesn't have anything else to do with their time that they are sitting and thinking out crappy laws like this. And doing this only to benefit some of their friends and them self's, to get permits,
Guest#242 Feb 13, 2014, 18:27
Why on earth should people not be able to breed and care for species, thanks to many hobbyists a lot of species have survived and will not become extinct soon.
Guest#243 Feb 13, 2014, 18:43
Rather than banning alien animals, train the authorities about the various species (their natural habitat, food, exercise, etc). Then they can be kept busy training future and interested owners ... knowledge will spread, and there will be less escapees among the aliens ... and people will learn to take responsibility. A much better world! Regular inspections by officers of an owner, who immediately should register upon the acquisition of a pet, should keep everyone on their toes, and both human and alien (animal) will life happily and relieved ever after ... And once a system like that is in place, there will also be no more (or in any case fewer) transgressions of the law. Try it; work it out! It could work if one puts one's mind to it!

What happened to freedom
What are you going to try and take away from us next. What about people that have these wonderful animals and nothing else.. No family.. Doesn't everybody deserve to love and be loved, as a choice by what they want????

Re: Then try changing the trade. what's the point of removing happy healthy pets from their homes.

I agree that alien animals should be protected also within our South-African county and all over the African continent, and that they should not be banned in our country but agree that the rights reserved for all these alien animals to permitted within our country,so that people within business and in normal media should not abuse these animals or disturb them from their nature, they shoeld be permitted and be protected by law yes!!
Guest#248 Feb 14, 2014, 12:26
Stop trying to outlaw what you can't regulate.
Guest#249 Feb 14, 2014, 13:40
they need to stop tellin people what to do. i understand the thoughts put in to it the way i see it got enough laws, (to many overdone laws) if the people in that group should think about passing laws on animals that people arround the country breed or raise just another way to drain people for money. it will take responcibility from all types to reach a reasonable meadian, dont believe it should be people or animals that pay the price for stupidity.thank you
