Because the PC (politically correct) brigade want to take away a long history of british tradition.
Only people who are upset are the PC brigade, because they dont know any better on the history of blackened faces.

Our cultural heritage is important and is in danger. The complaint (this should read the coercion) over this issue does not appear to be substantiated by any complaint by members of the public but is only that of a small self-righteous group. All the history of the black-face makeup should continue to be out in the open for people now and in the future to accept or decry as they feel is right.
