Appears to be aimed at the whole of the uk. The laws, and sentences, in Scotland are different from the rest of the uk, although they do need toughened everywhere!!!!

Crimes committed against defenceless animals are disgusting. Animals are voiceless and its our job to protect them from harm. The sentences and punishments handed out just now are a joke and will do nothing to deter people. ..

Mock if you want, but animals are living breathing beings. They have the same fears and pain realisation as us. They should all be raised and treated well. Anything less is truly inhumane.

the sentences are too soft on the subhumans who abuse animals.....this has got to STOP NOW.....we need harsher fines and more prison time....we cannot let these abusers think that a slap on the wrist is all they get.....give them a surprise if they do this again....10 to 15 years if not more in jail.....let's see them laugh about it then....it will be the animal lovers who will be applauding the sentence and smiling

People that hurt or mistreat animals should get the same punishment as what they did to the animal. Only fair and how is jail gonna help cause they are treated better in jail then most people not in jail.

I waited for this to happen, if they go to jail for months they probably won't do it again, dogs are just like us but looks different, they bleed, they breathe, they cry, they hurt, they eat, sleep so yes they are like a child !!

Animal abuse is a stepping stone to other abusive crimes.
I believe animal abuse continues & is increasing because of the light sentences that are handed down in the court systems.
I am horrified by the heinous acts that are being committed against innocent, defenseless animals. Dogs & cats are being set on fire, their ears are being cut off, they are being stoned to death & the abusers are getting younger & younger.
PLEASE WE MUST DO SOMETHING!!!

yes there has to be stricter sentences for people that are cruel to animals,its not enough to emit fines, this is not a deterrant!! if these abusers know that they will be imprisoned they will think twice, theres no excuse for animal cruelty so stiff sentences is the way to go!!

Any act of cruelty, whether it be against humanity or animal, should be strictly dealt with. We are too lenient by far when it comes to animal cruelty. We must impose heftier sentences.

Cruelty to animals should carry a prison sentence as if it was a human! NO DIFFERENCE AS FAR AS I CAN SEE. If they want to hurt an animal lets see what the animal lovers inside think bout their cruelty.

Britain has a reputation for being animal lovers. This may surprise someone from abroad who sees us shooting badgers and tearing foxes apart for sport. A person who harms an animal is a danger to society as a whole, not just the animal kingdom, and should be treated as such.

No animal should have to suffer.
If your an animal lover why abuse them when they have done nothing wrong.
It's not the animals fault. The only fault is the people who hurt animals.
More punishment needs to be done to ABUSERS.
Help us save animals who have been abused.
And catch the people who make animals suffer.
More prison sentences to be done and fine them from keeping animals for life.
All animals deserves a second chance but the cruel people don't.
Lets protect animals that need are help today and everyday.
