Our school must keep the 15h00 dismissal time and not introduce new rules that change learners’ safety and routine without proper consultation. The current time is part of how we get home, reach transport, and avoid being outside later than necessary.
These new rules affect us directly as school learners. When the school day ends later, many of us are left walking, waiting, or travelling when the streets are already less safe and more difficult to manage. For learners who depend on public transport, lifts from family, or long walks home, even a small change can create a real risk.
The concern is not just convenience. Parents and learners already worry about what happens outside school grounds, especially when there are kidnappers, rapists, and other dangerous people in the area. If the dismissal time changes without listening to the learners who are actually affected, the school may be exposing us to unnecessary danger and stress.
The school management and governing body should keep the 15h00 dismissal time in place and make no change to it without learner consultation and a clear safety review. If there are concerns about order, supervision, or timetable pressure, those issues should be solved inside the school day, not by pushing learners out later into unsafe conditions.
What we are asking for is simple and reasonable: keep the current 15h00 schedule, hear the learners before making any decision, and put learner safety first. A school schedule should work for the people who have to live with it every day, and it should not make the journey home harder or more dangerous.
If nothing changes, learners will continue to face the same risk and uncertainty every afternoon. Keeping 15h00 protects our routine, our safety, and our ability to get home with less fear and less disruption.
