Hi, my name is Sierra and I live in a very small town in California called Santa Maria. The problem with this town is it is so small which means there is nothing to do; so what do young adults/teenagers do for fun? Drink, smoke, party, do drugs-- GET IN TROUBLE WITH THE LAW. So I want to build a program here that helps troubled teens (which are on probation, in group, or that are struggling in school) stay off the streets and develop a better life style. For example, let's say there is a teen that is struggling in school, there will be someone there to help them study, do homework, and teach them things they don't understand. Another example is if there is a teen that is constantly getting into trouble not just with their parent(s)/guardian(s) but with the law too, because they're hanging around the wrong people, there will be someone there that will help them get involved into a sport program to stay out of trouble but and also make new friends. What if they don't have the money to join a sports program? OFF THE STREETS FOUNDATION WILL HELP THEM FUNDRAISE MONEY TO HELP THEM. And my last example is there might be a teen who just can't learn to stay out of trouble, there will be someone there that will help them get a job, learn to write resumes, and learn to fill out job applications. For the past almost nineteen years of my life I have watched so many bright and intelligent people go down the wrong path. I don't want to see anymore kids go down the wrong path, and I'm sure you don't either. Help me make a difference in the community and help these teenagers build up a better life.
