Oppose Bus Route Cuts in Rural Whittlesey

Rural Communities Need Sustainable Public Transport

The residents of the rural areas to the south and east of Whittlesey, Cambridgeshire, learned with dismay on Thursday 17th April that Stagecoach were 'considering' the amalgamation of routes 31 and 33, with the implied loss of a bus service for Eastrea, Coates, Pondersbridge and the rural communities between Whittlesey and March.

Since that time sources within Stagecoach are suggesting that the plans may be even more advanced than the Stagecoach press release indicated. Reports are emerging that the decision is not only already made, but has an implementation date of 31st August 2025.

This petition calls upon the Mayor of the Cambridgeshire and Peterborough Combined Authority to make strenuous efforts to resist this change and encourage Stagecoach to continue to provide a service for the 10,000+ residents of that region who will have no other recourse, apart from private car, for their daily journeys.
