Petition for a Sound Barrier Wall – Burnside Connector

We, the undersigned residents of Stonemount Neighbourhood in Lower Sackville, are petitioning the Province of Nova Scotia to install a sound barrier wall along the newly constructed Burnside Connector, adjacent to our residential area.

Before the highway extension, a natural buffer of mature trees helped protect our neighborhood from traffic noise. The removal of these trees during construction has dramatically increased noise levels. In addition, a significant increase in traffic volume on Highway 102 has further worsened the problem.

Concerns include:

●Disruption of sleep and daily life due to elevated traffic noise
●Negative health effects from long-term noise exposure
●Reduced enjoyment of our outdoor spaces
●Potential devaluation of our homes.

We respectfully request that a proper sound barrier wall be constructed to mitigate these effects and restore the quiet character of our neighborhood.IMG_20250720_182811.jpg

Thank you for your attention to this matter.
