Residents' Petition to Pause and Reevaluate the Proposed Grocery Store in E Block
We, the undersigned residents of E Block and the broader community, are writing to formally express our collective concerns regarding the Managing Committee’s recent decision to set up a grocery store within E Block—a residential zone that was originally designated for a crèche.
This change was not communicated during the property purchase process and significantly deviates from the builder’s original plan. Many residents made their home-buying decisions based on the promise of a crèche and the assurance that the space would not be used for commercial purposes.
We believe this decision requires transparent communication, formal consent (via NOC) from all E Block residents, and a detailed change management plan. This is not a temporary arrangement, but a permanent modification that impacts our security, safety, sanitation, infrastructure, and overall quality of life.
We are particularly concerned about:
-
Lack of voting transparency and under-representation of occupied blocks
-
Security risks from vendor access and increased footfall
-
Fire, electrical, and sanitation hazards from commercial operations
-
Lift overuse and accelerated infrastructure wear and tear
-
Absence of a clear maintenance, waste disposal, and compliance SOP
-
Property damage accountability and long-term liability concerns
-
Traffic disruption and heavy vehicle movement around residential units
We therefore urge the Managing Committee to pause all proceedings related to the grocery store until the following are fulfilled:
-
A fair, transparent voting process with full participation from occupied blocks
-
Formal NOC from E Block residents
-
A well-documented operational, safety, and compliance framework
-
Allocation of dedicated maintenance funds for E Block
-
Clear accountability for property damage and operational fallout
-
Appointment of a dedicated compliance officer
This petition is not against convenience but in support of a balanced, transparent, and inclusive decision-making process that safeguards the rights and safety of all residents. We seek your immediate attention to this matter and a formal response before any further actions are taken.
